The truth is I haven't really achieved much in my life
Oh yeah, I have a few qualifications that I can call mine
A few decent grades to show for my time
But nothing that makes me shine
A thought crosses my mind:
What legacy will I leave behind?
Is there anything about me that will stop people in their stride?
Something that they'll remember me by
At least one thing that I can say I did right
There is in fact something which I hold dear
Those priceless memories encapsulated in five precious years
It's a very positive thought
When I consider my achievements in sport
Being part of something special
In an environment where I revelled
The thrill of competition
Only served to heighten my ambition
And once I felt the adrenaline rush
I couldn't get enough
That was my time
Standing in the sporting arena
Basking in the spotlight
There I wrote my own chapter in history
I became a champion
And no one can take my medals away from me
I'll always remember the days when sport made me brave, strong and bold
And I'll never forget the day
I struck gold
