We met around the time when I was five
When you became the father figure I needed in my life
I quickly learned that you would never compromise
Everything with you would always be black and white
But you took me under your wing and helped me fly
Pushed me to greater heights
You were my guide
Who was always there to direct me, when I stepped out of line
I once thought that you were the coolest man alive
And maybe that hasn't changed with time
As when I think of you, I do so with a great level of pride
There are many things about you that I admire
Your commitment, honesty, determination and desire
To be the best that you can be
And how you won't let anyone or anything
Stop you from achieving what you want to achieve
All things considered, I'm glad that you were pushy
That you kept that belief
Hoping that one day I would be somebody
Because without you I wouldn't be me
So I'd like to say thank you for everything
I know that we often argue and don't see eye to eye
But I never intend to pick a fight
I know you only mean the best
So it's something that I'm ready to accept
Since I will always owe you such a great debt
I know I may not always show it
But you have my ultimate respect
