CHAPTER 6

Maloi's Pov

"Ricalde, have you given the file to the LawVoyagers firm?" Chief Lauren asked.

"Yes, Chief," I said.

"Good. Assist the attorney who'll handle the case. Pwede ka na rin umuwi. Pakisabi, congratulations sa sister mo for her new restaurant branch," Chief Lauren said.

I left the Chief's office and headed to my own. This week will definitely be a busy one, but I have time tomorrow to support Mikha. Ilang segundo lang ang lumipas, my office door opened. Pumasok si Colet.

"Hi, Captain. Ano sabi ni Chief?" Colet asked.

"Dinodouble-check niya lang yung progress ng new case," I said.

I'm Mary Loi Yves Kipte Ricalde, a detective, captain of the Special Detective Unit, and stepsister of Mikha Lim. Maloi is my nickname.

"Ice matcha latte for Captain Ricalde," Colet said as she placed the latte on my table.

"Thanks, Colet," I said.

"Okay ka lang ba?" Colet asked.

"Just a bit tired. Kakatapos lang natin ng isang case, tapos may bago agad," I said.

"Favorite ng Chief ang team natin," Colet said.

"After this case, magbabakasyon ang team-lalo na ako," I said.

"Magugustuhan 'yan ng team. Uso din kasi ang magpahinga, Captain. Magkapatid nga kayo ni Mikhs-parehong masyadong focused sa work," Colet said with a smile.

Tinignan ko si Colet-her smile. Nakaka-relax siya tingnan, hindi nakakasawa. I admit that I like her, pero hindi ko pinapahalata. May sasabihin sana si Colet, pero biglang may kumatok sa pintuan.

"Come in," I said.

It was Aiah.

"Hi, Detective Maloi. Colet," Aiah greeted.

"What brings you here, Atty. Arceta?" I asked.

"I'm the attorney assigned to your team's new case," Aiah replied.

"Nice, si Aiah na naman! Looking forward to working with you again," Colet said.

"Oo nga pala, may ibibigay ako," Aiah added.

She showed us a phone-familiar.

"Mikha left her phone at the firm when she dropped off the file," Aiah said.

Kinilig ata si Mikha Lim. Bigla akong may naisip na idea.

"Pauwi ka na ba, Aiah?" I asked.

"Yes. I just wanted to return Mikha's phone to you," Aiah said.

"Tara, dinner sa bahay. Kasama na rin si Colet, tapos ikaw na din mismo magbigay ng phone niya. Himala, nakalimutan niya 'yung phone," I said.

"Baka busy kakaisip sa restaurant niya," Aiah said.

I packed up my things and we headed to my house. Dala ni Aiah ang car niya, sinundan niya na lang 'yung sakin.

"Maloi, ano na naman 'tong pinaplano mo?" Colet asked.

Sa team ko, sina Colet at Jho ang pinaka-close ko-since high school pa kami magka-schoolmates, tapos college classmates din. Pag outside work, they call me by my nickname. Ramdam agad ni Colet pag may something akong iniisip.

"Being a cupid for tonight," I smirked.

"Bilis ng utak mo pag sa ganitong situation," Colet said.

"Tinutulungan ko lang si Mikha. Bagal kasi ng manok ko," I teased.
