Bryan's Pov
"Hi, Mr. Rivera," I said.
"Mr. Arceta, come in please," Mr. Rivera replied.
I'm currently at the Rivera residence. Mr. Rivera, Gelo's father, let me in.
"I'll get straight to the point, Mr. Rivera," I said.
"Sure. Is this about the new collab project between our companies?" Mr. Rivera asked.
"Don't worry about that, it's progressing well. I'm here to give your son, Angelo Troy Rivera, a restraining order," I said.
"Gelo? What did he do this time?" Mr. Rivera asked, concerned.
"He barged into Mikha Lim’s restaurant last night, insisting on taking Aiah with him, and even punched Mikha in the face. What’s worse is—he was drunk," I explained.
I handed him the folder containing Gelo's restraining order.
"I'm truly sorry for Gelo’s behavior. I’ll give this to him myself and make sure he stays away from Aiah," Mr. Rivera said.
"This isn’t just for Aiah’s protection—it's for Mikha Lim too. Your son’s pride is hurt. He's jealous of Mikha's rising popularity as a chef," I added.
"I don’t know where I went wrong raising him... But don’t worry, Bryan, I’ll handle my son," Mr. Rivera assured me.
"Thank you, Mr. Rivera. I’ll take my leave now. See you at our meeting next week," I said.
After leaving the Rivera residence, I headed straight to the firm. As I walked through the hallway, I saw Maki and Chie. Maki is a freelance attorney—he prefers it that way despite me offering him a spot in my firm. Chie is my secretary and also Maki's fiancée.
"Hi Maki, binibisita mo si Chie?" I asked.
"Hello, Bryan. Actually, I came to talk to you about a case," Maki replied.
"Sure, come into my office," I said.
We entered my office and closed the door behind us.
"What case?" I asked.
"The one Aiah is handling right now. Bryan, you need to give that case to someone else—this time it’s seriously dangerous," Maki said.
"She’s already started analyzing it," I told him.
"The organization she’s dealing with is a huge drug syndicate. They're known even outside the Philippines," Maki warned.
"You know my sister. She doesn’t back down from cases," I said.
"Then let me help her. Hire me for this case," Maki offered.
"Why are you so persistent about this one?" I asked.
"Because... the leader of that organization killed my father. I’m not doing this for revenge, but for justice—for the victims," Maki said seriously.
"Okay. Tell Aiah you’ll be assisting her. I'm worried for her too," I admitted.
"Your sister is a great lawyer. Himala lang, she’s not in her office yet," Maki said.
"Maybe she’s still at Mikha’s condo," I said.
"Mikha? As in Mikhaela Lim? The one who had a crush on Aiah since high school?" Maki asked.
Maki was their senior during high school.
"Yes. They started reconnecting since the homecoming. And some unexpected things happened—like Aiah and Gelo breaking up. Mikha protected my sister twice already. Last night, Gelo barged in drunk during our dinner at Mikha’s restaurant," I said.
