Alexis' stare at Carl was going longer which made him quite uncomfortable. He cleared his throat again and spoke as he went near. "Is that Miss Dallas' building?" he pointed at the paper on the table.

Alexis blinked and snapped back into reality. "Uhh, yes," she glanced at the table.

Carl stepped by the table and looked down.

"Can I do anything for you?" Alexis looked at him, a strange feeling creeping into her.

"You can sit down, Sir!" Adrielle quickly brought down her pencil and paper on the table and rushed to pull a chair for him.

"Thanks, Adrielle but no need. I'm just roaming around to see how employees work," Carl spoke casually and didn't sit down.

"You design types of furniture?" He asked after his eyes were caught by the pad that Adrielle placed on the table.

"Err, just playing on that," Adrielle bashfully replied while she reached for it.

"Can I see it?" Carl requested which she cannot decline.

Alexis watched him silently as he study the sketched drawing on the paper.

"This is good," Carl spoke with eyes still on the paper. "Are there other designs you made?"

"No, sir. That's my first time trying on furniture. And it's not that good," Adrielle replied slowly as she glanced at Alexis, quite flattered by the president's simple appreciation.

Carl hummed and placed the notepad down. "You're still in college right? Are you taking architecture as well?" He walked towards the window.

Alexis and Adrielle glanced at each other, both were surprised with his immediate presence and his unexpected questions.

"No, Sir, I stopped. I took courses on medicine before, but now I'm going to work," Adrielle faced him.

"Why?" Carl glanced at her before he looked outside.

"Because I need to earn money to pay for my debt." Adrielle was reluctant but still said it.

"Debt?" Carl echoed.

Alexis, who was silently watching them, opened her mouth to say something but Carl went ahead of her. "Oh, you just had your surgery, right?"

"Yes... How did you know about that?" Adrielle frowned and looked at Alexis.

"Didn't Alexis tell you?" Carl also looked at her.

Alexis felt like she did something wrong. She looked at her sister and spoke. "He's the one who lent me the money."

"What? You...?" Adrielle was surprised. Looking at Carl with widened eyes, she even pointed at him.

Carl only twitched his lips.

"Oh my gush," Adrielle exclaimed as she smiled tearfully. Surprising Carl, she fall on her knees, bowed her head, and said her heartfelt gratitude.

"Thank you, so so soooo much." Tears fall from her eyes after she said it.

Carl was speechless and he was frozen for a moment. His heart was warmed. "Get up. Thanking me is enough. Only God deserves your worship."

Alexis, who was also surprised by Adrielle's gesture, can't believe what she heard and she stared at Carl. Did he say that about God? Is he a believer now?

"Yeah, I'm just really grateful." Adrielle composed her emotions then got up. "You know, I promised myself that when I'll learn who lent Lex the money, I'm gonna thank him forever." She sniffed and wiped her cheeks.
