Carl looked up and Alexis was already gone.

He just looked down again and flipped on the papers. They're all aesthetically designed and it pleased him.

He stood and hurriedly went out and saw her talking with Mrs. Cole.

"Miss Carter, come inside," he commanded in his low voice.

Alexis looked at him and he only eyed her before entering again.

He made a call as soon as he was by his table.

"Sit down," he commanded when Alexis entered.

It was then that his call was received.

Alexis hesitated to sit for she was not in the mood to relax. However, as she watched Carl make a call, she sighed in resignation knowing that she was only to obey. She heard him inform Mrs. Sheridan that the design was already finished.

After that, he said "Okay," and then faced her as he put down the phone.

"She's coming," he spoke casually.

"Really?" she exclaimed. She expected that they were the ones who would be going there.

Carl hummed in response as he walked towards the door. "Fix yourself, we will meet them in the council room," he spoke without looking at her. "Where's you're model?"

"In my table," Alexis replied with her gaze on him.

"Okay," Carl replied with a glance at her then stepped outside.

Alexis stood in a bit daze with Carl's formal yet softer actions.

A glint of joy budded in her heart and her lips twitched into a small, contained smile.

She went out and saw Carl giving instructions to Mrs. Cole.

Not knowing what else to do, she walked towards the clear, wide glass wall and stood there.

As she watched the view of the city outside, she wondered what was in this city that it was where she was placed.

When Carl was done talking and Mrs. Cole did her work, he turned and saw Alexis standing by the glass wall. He felt the odd warmth again.

Pressing his lips together, he suppressed the urge to go near her and just went into his office.

Minutes passed and Mrs. Sheridan joined them as they gathered around the covered model of the townhouse.

"Presenting your Casa de Familia," Alexis beamed with enthusiasm as she removed the covering.

Debbie's eyes widened and her surprise was revealed. "Wow! This is... different," she exclaimed while she went nearer.

Carl smiled. He was amazed when he saw it a while ago.

Alexis was pleased that the woman liked it. Though they only exchanged little communication, she was glad of the result.

A pleased look was all over Mrs. Sheridan's face as Alexis explained to her the interior design and some details, also using the printed design.

"A play area?" Debbie asked when she mentioned it.

"Yes. Since you're a family-oriented person, I figured you would love to make a place for your grandchildren," Alexis smiled.

"Hmm," Mrs. Sheridan responded, looking back at the paper.

"When I'm at Benton Harbor, I met a girl and it's her that gave me the idea," Alexis shared.

"A girl?" the older woman echoed with her eyes still glued on the design.

"Yes. She and her family lived beside your lot there."
