The fading sunlight poured through the window, casting a warm, amber glow across the room, bathing it in a serene softness. Ashwath and Ahalya lay entwined on their bed, the world outside forgotten, their shared silence speaking volumes. In the comforting stillness, Ahalya’s fingers traced gentle patterns through Ashwath’s hair, her touch feather-light, as if she feared breaking the fragile peace they had found.

She leaned closer, her lips near his ear, and whispered words that carried the weight of her heart. "I love you," she said, her voice as soft as the evening breeze but filled with an intensity that resonated deeply.

Ashwath turned his head slightly to meet her gaze, his eyes reflecting the tenderness he felt. “I couldn’t have asked for anything more from God,” he murmured, his arms tightening around her as if anchoring himself in her presence.

Ahalya tilted her head, her brow furrowed slightly with concern. “How do you feel now?” she asked softly, her voice laced with quiet hope.

“Much better,” Ashwath replied, his voice steady yet filled with an unmistakable undercurrent of relief. The storm inside him had calmed, replaced by a rare moment of tranquility.

Ahalya’s hand paused its gentle motion, resting against his cheek as her thumb brushed away a stray tear he didn’t know had fallen. “If you ever feel low, just let me know. I’m always here for you,” she reassured him, her tone resolute yet tender, her unwavering support shining in her eyes.

Ashwath exhaled deeply, his gaze drifting upward as if searching for answers among the shadows on the ceiling. “I’m here too,” he said, his voice firm with a quiet resolve. “They weren’t just my parents; they loved you even more. I know you’ve suffered a lot because of me, Ahalya. But I promise—I won’t let you both down again.”

Her heart ached at his words, a mix of sorrow and pride swelling within her. She shook her head gently, her voice steady as she countered, “You’ve never let us down, Ashwath. Not once. You’ve always been our pillar of strength, even when you didn’t feel like it.”

Ashwath’s expression faltered, his vulnerability shining through as he admitted in a barely audible voice, “I wish I could have been a better husband for you. You deserved so much more, Ahalya.”

She smiled softly, a tear slipping down her cheek as she pulled him closer, her arms encircling him with a reassuring warmth. “Don’t ever worry about that,” she whispered, her voice steady despite the emotions coursing through her. “You *are* the best, Ashwath. You’ve given me love, safety, and a reason to keep going. That’s more than enough.”

Ashwath buried his face in the crook of her neck, his breath warm against her skin as he let her words sink in. “I’ll try to be better—for you, for Nisha,” he murmured, his tone a mixture of determination and humility.

“You already are,” Ahalya replied simply, her voice carrying the kind of conviction that left no room for doubt. She pressed a kiss to his forehead, her lips lingering as if sealing her promise to stand by him always.

The golden light of the setting sun gradually faded, replaced by the gentle embrace of twilight. In their shared embrace, Ashwath and Ahalya found a sanctuary untouched by the chaos of the world—a cocoon of love, understanding, and quiet strength. The room seemed to hum with the silent acknowledgment of their bond, a love forged in resilience and tempered by the trials they had endured together.
