Voltaire High entrance, 8:24 AM
The third day of classes started like any other for Lily-Rose. Stepping out of her driver's car, which had dropped her off near the school, she made her way through the courtyard, her distinguished demeanor and impeccable clothing once again drawing the attention of the other students. Her beret turned heads as she walked.
Joseph watched the scene from a corner of the courtyard. His scrutinizing gaze followed every move the young girl made.
Leaning against the wall, a cigarette between his fingers, his dark gaze fixed on her. He refused to acknowledge the undeniable attraction he felt for this girl, as unattainable and different as she may be.
As she approached, he felt a surge of annoyance rise within him. Who was she to strut around like that, as if the world belonged to her ?
Yet, he couldn't tear his gaze away from her slender silhouette. He couldn't deny that she was beautiful, with an aristocratic beauty that seemed to elude him. She was like a puzzle, an enigma he couldn't solve.
She was everything he hated, but at the same time, he couldn't help but admire her poise. Joseph decided to approach her.
"Hey," she raised her chin slightly to meet his eyes, him and all his height, determined not to be intimidated. Yet she felt tiny beside him.
She tried to walk past him and ignore him, but Joseph moved to block her path once more. He acted as if nothing had happened since yesterday, since he had given her that damn book. And his drawing.
"You attract attention with your princess airs," he said, a smirk forming on his lips. "I bet you come from one of those fancy mansions around here, huh ?" he added with a slight laugh.
Lily-Rose raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in her eyes. "And what if I do ?" she retorted. He smiled, appreciating her quick wit.
"Well, wouldn't surprise me. But I have to admit, it suits you," he replied, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "You know, you're quite impressive with your distinguished style and all that," he continued, giving her clothes an appreciative glance.
She looked at him warily, not quite sure how to interpret his words. "Are you making fun of me ?"
Joseph smirked. "Oh, but I thought you were used to playing with the feelings of the men in your social class," he retorted, trying to unsettle her, cigarette between his fingers.
Lily-Rose rolled her eyes, annoyed by his arrogance. "No, I'm here to study. Maybe something you should try once in a while."
A teasing smile stretched across from his lips. "You have a point, princess. But maybe you should save your cutting remarks for your servants. Here, you're not at home."
