Exit from Voltaire High, 5:33 PM

The sun was setting slowly, tinting the sky with a palette of warm colors as the day drew to a close. Lily-Rose was heading towards the exit, her bag in hand, ready to go home after a long day of classes in February.

As she was about to pass through the school gates, Joseph strode towards her with determination. "Princess, wait !" he called out to her as he usually did.

She turned around, surprised to see him. He seemed different that evening, with a newfound confidence in his eyes and palpable energy in his stride.

"Pirate ?" He stopped in front of her, excitement gleaming in his eyes.

"I was thinking... why don't we go grab a coffee one of these days ? Together. A coffee or... a tea."

The proposition caught her off guard, but she couldn't help but feel a wave of warmth rising in her chest. She raised an eyebrow, pleasantly surprised, then nodded slowly. "Okay. I'm in."

He wanted to smile but restrained himself from showing any relief. "Can we set a date for this week ?"

He appeared calm, but deep down, he felt excited about the prospect of spending time with her outside the school walls.

"Yes, I think I can find a moment. I'll let you know."

Once the discussion was over, she inclined her head slightly in farewell and turned to continue her way home.

Before she got too far, he called out to her again. "Wait," he said, a bit hesitant. "I just wanted to tell you that you're far from being the girl I hate the most."

These words surprised her, eliciting an amused smile. She turned back to him, her eyes sparkling with mischief, recalling what she had written on the paper.

"Well, that's a rather strange way to compliment me, pirate," she replied, a hint of amusement coloring her voice.

He shrugged, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Well, I'm not really known for my compliments, am I ?" he joked, mischief gleaming in his eyes.

Lily-Rose shook her head slightly, a smile still lingering on her lips. "No, indeed, you're not exactly the type to give out compliments."

Then, with one final wave, she resumed her walk home.

Lily-Rose's silhouette faded as she walked away, her beret adding a touch of charm to her graceful stride. He watched her go, a tender smile stretching across his lips as he remembered every detail of their conversation.
