:; Been on another level since you came, no more pain
You look into my eyes, you can't recognize my face
You're in my world now, you can stay, you can stay
But you belong to me, ooh, you belong to me.

School courtyard, 8:23 AM

On a bench in the shade of the tall trees in the high school courtyard, Joseph sat with his friends, engaged in lively conversation.

They talked about everything and nothing, but their gazes always turned toward the girls crossing the courtyard, assessing their appearance with unabashed arrogance.

Then Lily-Rose made her entrance into the courtyard, as elegant and refined as ever. As usual, her presence didn't go unnoticed, drawing the attention of many students, including Joseph and his friends. Charles and Jean exchanged a knowing glance, well aware that she was their friend's weakness.

"Look who's here," said Charles with a smirk. « Our beautiful and noble Lily-Rose de Montclair. »

Jean nodded, adding with a mocking laugh, "She's as ravishing and unattainable as ever. It's like even her steps are graceful, isn't it, Joseph ?"

He suppressed a sigh, knowing full well where they were going with this. "She's pretty, that much we can't deny," he finally admitted, his eyes involuntarily following Lily-Rose's figure as she walked toward her friends.

His friends exchanged a knowing smile, knowing they had struck a nerve. "Oh, Joseph, you're going to end up falling for this little bourgeois girl."

"Cut it out," he muttered, his voice feigning indifference. "You're making a big deal out of nothing. She's just like any other girl."

They shared a knowing smile, well aware that he didn't mean a word of what he just said.

As they continued to watch her, their attention was drawn to another student in their class, Yves Lamaziere, who was approaching her with confidence. Joseph furrowed his brow as he observed the scene.

"What's he doing ?" asked Charles, raising an eyebrow with curiosity. Joseph shrugged nonchalantly.

Jean exclaimed, "Look at that. Yves is hitting on Lily-Rose. You better do something if you don't want to miss your chance !"

The latter nodded, laughing, "Yeah, Joseph. You wouldn't want to let a guy like Yves get close to your future girlfriend !"

He sighed as his two friends chuckled at their own remarks. But before he could even consider defending himself, the bell rang.

Voltaire High, classroom 3, 2:26 PM

The students took their usual seats for the Latin class. Lily-Rose found herself alone at a table, her books neatly arranged in front of her, her gaze lost in thought.

A murmur of excitement rippled through the class as Yves decided to approach her. The curious gazes of the other students turned toward them, including Joseph's, who sat at the back of the class, discreetly observing the scene unfolding before him.

"May I sit next to you ?" asked Yves, catching her attention. She looked up from her books, surprised by the request.

After a brief moment of consideration, she nodded slightly. "Of course, go ahead," she replied calmly.

The boy settled in beside her with a grateful smile. She offered him a polite smile in return before immersing herself back into her books.

The class resumed its lesson, but for Joseph, all attention was now focused on the scene unfolding before him. He couldn't help but wonder what might be happening between them, and why it troubled him so much.

Throughout the rest of the class, he tried to focus on his Latin exercises, but his mind was elsewhere. He couldn't shake the image of Lily-Rose sitting next to Yves from his thoughts.

Exit from Voltaire High, 5:25 PM

The day was drawing to a close, but for Joseph, the agitation was just beginning.

While other students rushed towards the exit, he searched for Yves, determined to address the issue that had been weighing on him for hours.

Finally spotting his classmate amidst the crowd of students, he approached him with purposeful strides. "I need to talk to you," he declared, his gaze meeting Yves's.

Taken aback by this abrupt approach, Yves looked at him with surprise. "Sure, what's up ?"

Joseph glanced around them, ensuring they were out of earshot. Then, he plunged in, "I saw you... with Lily-Rose in class, sitting next to her. It shouldn't be like that."

"I don't understand. We were just working together in class. What's the problem ?" Yves raised an eyebrow, a perplexed expression forming on his face.

"The problem is that you shouldn't be getting close to her like that. You're not from the same world as her, you don't have the right to approach her."

"I fail to see why you feel entitled to tell me who I can or cannot approach. Lily-Rose is just another student, and I fail to see how our collaboration in class is an issue." Joseph felt a surge of anger rising within him as he stepped closer.

"You have no idea who she is, what she represents. She's too good for you. If you don't want trouble, you'd better back off and stay away from her."

As the tension reached its peak, a familiar voice echoed behind them. "Well, well, what's going on here ?" Charles chimed in cheerfully as he approached with Jean, his usual accomplice.

Joseph stiffened, surprised by his friends' sudden arrival. He knew their presence could either defuse the situation or escalate it further, depending on how they reacted.

"It seems our dear Joseph is intimidating his classmates again," Jean joked. Charles nodded with a knowing smile.

"You know, Joseph, maybe you should calm down a bit. You might scare away all your friends if you keep this up."

"He's not my friend." Without waiting for a response, he turned on his heels and walked away, leaving behind a bewildered Yves and a Lily-Rose unaware of the altercation.
