Voltaire High's library, 3:24 PM
Lily-Rose, sitting at a table with Annick, was engrossed in her book when she heard footsteps approaching. Lifting her eyes, she saw Jean and Charles making their way towards them, smiling.
"Hey, girls !" Jean greeted with a knowing wink. Annick greeted them coldly while Lily-Rose politely returned the smile, a bit surprised to see Joseph's friends addressing her.
Charles sat down across from them, his smile widening. "We've come to tease Joseph a bit," he said, glancing towards the shelves where Joseph was not far away, apparently engrossed in searching for a book.
"In fact, we wanted to know what you think of our dear friend," Jean added, a smirk playing on his lips as his gaze turned towards Lily-Rose. Annick raised her eyebrows, seemingly interested in this sudden conversation.
Lily-Rose furrowed her brows slightly, wondering where this conversation was headed. "Well, Joseph is... he has a strong personality, to say the least," she replied cautiously.
Charles burst into laughter. "Oh, interesting is an understatement to describe Joseph," he said, nodding his head.
"But we all know you're the center of his universe. He talks about you all the time, you know."
Lily-Rose felt a slight warmth creeping up her cheeks at hearing this. Before she could formulate a response, they exchanged a knowing glance and turned away to leave.
Annick, who had been listening to everything, gave her a knowing smile. "Well, Lily-Rose, it seems you have an unexpected suitor. What do you plan to do about it ?"
She hesitated for a moment. "I... I don't know," she murmured finally.
Her gaze drifted to the subject who was on the other side of the library, his eyes fixed on the shelves.
Lost in thought, she absentmindedly flipped through her book, but Annick continued, "Do you know what I think ?"
"No, what do you think ?" Intrigued, she looked up at her friend.
"I think Joseph has a soft spot for you."
Lily-Rose looked at her with surprise, her cheeks taking on a slight rosy hue.
"What ? No, that's impossible. He and I are light years apart. You're always full of wild assumptions." She bit her lip.
Annick shook her head insistently. "I'm not so sure. I've noticed the way he looks at you in class. It's like he can't take his eyes off you."
