"Ahh Fuck." Jack exclaimed.

He was sitting in a conference room at the office, preparing for a meeting with the marketing department, Sarah and him were early, setting up, when he got a text, that his mother is expecting him to bring a date to his cousins wedding. He was planning on going alone, but if his mother demands it, he has to follow through.

His 70 year old mother means well, She wasn't trying to be malicious with her request. She just cared.

His mother being the woman that she is... she would rather have Jack show up with a date so he didn't seem like he was lonely and single.

"What's wrong?" Sarah asked as Jack's sudden exclamation couldn't be ignored.

The distraught and confusion on Jack's face was obvious when he exclaimed out loud. Jack waved his hand dismissively as to make sure it was known that it was no big deal.

"Oh I am fine. My mother just texted me saying that I need to find a date for my cousin's wedding. So I don't come off as lonely and single." Jack explained.

"Oh?" Sarah questioned.

"She just doesn't want me to be gossiped about. The problem is the wedding date is this weekend, and it is Wednesday. That's pretty last-minute for me to find a date."  Jack said with a heavy sigh.

"Jack you are a wealthy and attractive man. You should have no problem." Sarah said simply.

She has worked with Jack for a very long time and they are the same age... she is a trusted member of his team. They are comfortable enough with each other where a conversation like this isn't out of line.

"I could take one of my friends, but it would be nice to have an actual date. Especially since everybody knows I broke off my engagement because I'm you know- gay. Ever since I decided to call of my engagement I have been the biggest piece of gossip in my family. So I need to bring a man obviously." Jack said a bit stressed.

Jack Chuckled at the fact that he was openly talking about his sexuality. When he first came out a little over a year ago, he would've never done that.Jack was running through a list of his friends in his head. Zack and Rian  were options. Zack would probably go with Jack, Rian wouldn't... the rest of Jack's friends weren't as close so he wouldn't feel comfortable bringing them to a family function.

Jack pulled out his phone and sent a quick text to Zack asking if he could come to the wedding. Jack sighed as he received a response from Zack saying that he has to work all weekend. Zack was the son of a record producer, and he worked as a producer alongside him.

"Well there goes that idea." Jack said as he rubbed his eyes, frustrated.

Sarah sensed Jack's struggle and was trying to comfort him before the rest of her team arrived.

"How about I ask Alex to join you as a favor to me... I know he is available as he was supposed to help me all weekend with house projects. He loves going to weddings and he makes a really fun and impressive date." Sarah suggested helpfully.

Jack went wide eyed and nearly spit out his coffee at the suggestion. Luckily, Sarah was now facing away from him as he spun in his chair anxiously, so she couldn't see Jack's reaction.

If you only knew how much fun I find your son to be.

"Sarah...No. I cannot ask that of him. He should be helping you as planned!" Jack said, trying his best to shut down the idea.

Jack hated to admit it. But Alex would be perfect to go with him. He can make small talk like a pro, he has an impressive and stable career, he is attractive and young. Damn it. Jack is trying his best to say no, because he doesn't want to blur the lines with his relationship with Alex. Even though he is in a bit of a tough spot.
