Alex shuffled into the hotel's breakfast area, still feeling the remnants of frustration from last night's wedding fiasco. His eyes scanned the room, landing on a familiar sight that made his stomach churn – Christopher and Jack, the epitome of sickeningly sweet post hookup afterglow was obvious between the two of them.
As Alex gathered his breakfast he listened to the conversation he could clearly overhear.
"God I missed you Jack. I know we never made anything official between us but spending nights with you reminds me of old times." Christopher said as he fed Jack some pancakes.
"Yeah. I never know what it is but everytime I see you, all of our good times flood back and I would never turn down a chance to spend time with you." Jack admitted as he kissed Christopher's hand.
Watching the exchange made Alex want to throw up his breakfast he was about to eat.
Suppressing an eye roll, Alex made a beeline for a secluded corner, determined to keep his distance. His complicated feelings for Jack only added to his annoyance, fueling him.
Additionally, he was still angry over how Jack treated him last night. Quite literally dropping him like he doesn't matter.
So needless to say, his unrequited romantic feelings and being tossed aside made Alex wake up in a fowl mood. His body language sure made his irritation noticeable.
As he settled at a table, Alex plugged in his headphones and retrieved his laptop, diving into the search for his next film project. Alex didn't have a producing job set up for the future yet, he was wanting to take a break, and he had plenty of money at the moment, but never hurt to look.
The giggles and whispers from Christopher and Jack threatened to break his concentration, but he fought to stay focused.
Despite his efforts, snippets of their affectionate banter seeped through his defenses, a constant reminder of what he couldn't have. With a sigh, Alex resigned himself to the inevitable discomfort of the drive home with Jack, hoping to find solace in his work until then.
Christopher suddenly starts talking about Alex to Jack, and despite his best efforts, Alex finds himself overhearing the conversation.
Christopher's tone makes Alex want to throw up. He's getting embarrassment all over again for how this man is speaking about him.
Christopher has no right to speak about Alex- he doesn't even know him.
Christopher leaned in flirtatiously towards Jack. "You know what's really hot? How you just ditched that juvenile Alex like that last night. It shows where your priorities lie."
Alex officially paused his music to overhear the ridiculousness of this conversation... Alex was legitimately concerned about what he was talking about.
The fact that he thinks it's funny that Alex went through that means he may have no redeeming qualities left, and Alex is barely ready to forgive Jack... but if he is honest with himself he still has a soft spot for Jack and he hates to admit it but he would probably do damn near anything for him right now.
Jack seemed to tense up a little bit from what Alex could observe from his spot across the room.
"Yeah... I guess something happens to me when you come around where I just don't think straight and my priorities get skewed. There's something about you....you just pull all my attention to you anytime we're together. I think that's pretty evident by last night." Jack said a bit playfully.
"Jack, I am just saying you left Alex hanging after embarrassing him. It's like you choose me over him. I was more important than your date." Christopher said as he took Jack's hand.
