Seonghwa:
We couldn't stay put as Jongho was fighting for his life in some strangers' house. Yet, we couldn't do anything to help him. That situation frustrated us. We had to do something. We had to hunt. Hunt every monster, living peacefully. They had to die. That was why me and my brother prepared to go out for blood. We knew about a couple of hideouts. There was one gumiho hideout near the forest. San decided to go for it. As for me, I planned to hunt down some goblins on the other side of the city. After some discussion, we decided to separate and cover a broader field. It didn't take us long to prepare. We then left to chase down our targets. Even if it was insane, to go alone against more supernatural opponents.
I arrived a little bit before midnight. From the outside, the building was like any other abandoned house. But I could sense the goblins inside. I knew there were no more than five of them inside. I also knew all the exits of the house. I put talismans on each one of them before going inside. That way, not a single monster could escape. I walked down, taking a look in every room. The goblins were separated. Good. I placed a talisman on the doorway. Divide and rule. I sneaked up to the last room. There were two goblins and a hostage. That wasn't good. I had to get her out safely. Dammit!
I had no other choice but to distract them. I entered the room loudly, getting their attention right away. The moment they saw me, they attacked. At least, goblins were predictable. I pulled out my sword and defended myself. They were strong, but that couldn't stop me from killing them. I swiftly avoided their strikes and stabbed them both. That wasn't enough to kill a goblin. I had to cut off their heads. By now, I was led. by my frustration. That made me forget about the hostage and went to kill the rest.
The other goblins were far easier to kill since they were significantly weaker. I managed to finish them quickly. By then, I had released my frustration and could think clearly. I had to lead out the hostage. I returned to that room. There was she, but she wasn't alone. Above her was standing a grim reaper. He was covered in a black suit and fedora hat, preventing me from seeing his face. The reaper raised his scythe, ready to strike her. My body acted on its own. I attacked him, stopping my blade just millimetres from his neck. That made him look at me. It was the same reaper I met the first time. He looked pissed off.
"What do you think you are doing?" he asked me.
"Leave her," I said, ignoring his question.
"Her time has ended. I need to collect her soul. Move," he commanded me.
"Make me," I answered.
Maybe I made a mistake, but it was too late. The reaper melted in the shadows and came from behind me. With one smooth blow, he took me down. I dropped my sword, but I wasn't ready to give up. I took out my daggers and attacked him. He avoided it by melting in the shadows once again. And again, he kicked me down. We repeated that a couple of more times. In the end, I could no longer get up. I could only lie down and watch as he took the soul of that poor girl.
Once he took care of her soul, he squatted next to me. His sharp eyes observed me. The grim reaper didn't speak a single word. Instead, he took one of my daggers and used it to cut my finger. Now covered in my blood, the blade went into his pocket. I didn't know much about the reapers, but I could only guess that having my blood was nothing good.
"Get up, I'll send you home before you do something even more reckless," The reaper said, giving me his hand.
"I don't need your help," I said, refusing his help.
That wasn't taken well by the reaper. He grabbed my arm and pulled me up. Then he snapped his fingers. My weapons, once lying on the ground, were now gone. As for us, he dragged me out towards my bike. I stood in confusion as he snapped his fingers again, and his fedora turned into a helmet. Then, he made me put on my helmet, before jumping on my bike. He was driving. I had no idea Reapers could ride bikes.
