Oralie POV:

The Council had a day off to rest and think about whats going to happen next. It was probably for mainly herself, to give her a little bit of time to grieve.

That little bit of time was barely enough time.

She stayed in her castle all day, thinking about the times of Kenric and Oralie, Oralie and Kenric.

She remembered the day she first met Sophie Foster, at Everglen. It was Bronte, Kenric, and herself.

She recalled Kenric moving his chair a bit closer to hers. He thought she wouldn't notice. But she did.

Later on, Bronte gave Sophie permission to attempt to read his mind.

"You think you're the only one at this table with common sense, and you're tired of watching Kenric stare at Oralie."

She let those words replay in her head, reliving the moment she said those words.

She felt a mix of embarrasment and flattery, but recalling those emotions brought a whole throng of new emotions.

She felt even more heartbroken as she remembered practically every time she was with Kenric. There was so much emotion around him.

She couldn't make it go away. It was just always there.

He couldn't hide his feelings. That's why it hurt so much.

It was there, and it always was. She just never took the chance. And now it was too late.

As she poured a cup of tea for herself, she thought about all the other times, the little things that Kenric did.

Him agreeing with her on a council decision.

"Of course you do" Bronte said after Kenric agreed with her.

Another time, at a party. Jolie Ruewen was there. Kenric had asked her to dance, multiple times.

She let herself smile thinking about that, the first time all day she had smiled.

"Oralie, please. Just one dance?" He asked with a cute grin. "I promise I'll catch you if you fall."

After agreeing after Kenric bugging her about it, he twirled her around and caught her. They were so close, people started to stare. They stared into each other's eyes for a moment, then let go.

She remembered seeing angst and sadness briefly in his eyes when he let go of her, with a sad smile.

"If only we could be like this together and no one would stare" he transmitted to her.

By the time she had finished her cup of tea, she felt a little happier. Then she realized he was gone and she would never be able to make memories with him again.

She opened up an old memory catalog Kenric kept of him and her. It was only for their eyes to see.

She remembered Kenric saying how he was everyone's favorite councillor, but quickly changing his answer.

"That's why I'm everyone's favorite. Well, second favorite. Empaths always win."

She remembered feeling herself blush, and the amount of butterflies swelled inside of her heart.

Then her mind drifted to momemts before- before it happened.

Kenric had tried to go into Fintan's mind.

"Wow, his mind is a maze I can't-"

He had a headache, so Oralie came over to help him. She calmed his emotions down by sending calm breezes to him. A thing only an empath can do to their one and only.

"Thanks, you always make everything better." He even leaned into her palm.

Oralie sat there, all alone, now with cold tea.

She didn't realize how lonely it was without Kenric.

How empty her life was.

How Kenric filled up all the empty spaces, but now that he was gone.

Those empty spaces seemed to take up everything.

What was she going to do?
