Oralie's POV:
The council was called immediately after they heard about Sophie and Fitz's breakthrough with Kenric.
Apparently he was awake, but very discombobulated.
As the eleven of them walking down the glittering halls, they could hear voices inside the room.
There was Kenric sitting upright, smiling, next to a smiling Sophie and Fitz. Alden and two of the Black Swan members, Mr. Forkle, and a less familiar one, Granite, who was covered with rocks and dust.
For a moment, Oralie met Kenric's eyes.
She felt his emotions from all away across the room. She could see it in his eyes. The hopefulness, the happiness, the hopeless love when he smiled.
"Hey guys," Kenric said with a dimpled grin, his voice a bit hoarse and raspy. "I don't really like how my voice sounds, but I guess that's what happens when you haven't spoken for a long time."
Everyone nodded, smiling and taking in the scene.
"I can't believe I'm finally back. Well I can, because of these two," Kenric motioned to Sophie and Fitz, who were standing by the corner.
"Elwin just gave me a bite of mallowmelt- and it was the best thing ever!" Kenric laughed like a little kid.
"Sorry guys, I'm just so giddy right now." Kenric locked eyes with Oralie and his expression softened.
"Well, I believe we have some official Council business to get to, right Kenric?" Emery said, who was the first to speak out of the entire council.
Emery looked at Elwin. "Is there any private places in here? Or is he able to light leap?"
Elwin shook his head. "He can't like leap because his entire body is still unstable. He didn't get a chance to recover from- from when he was with the Neverseen."
Elwin flashed a couple of light orbs around Kenric.
"Wait- shouldn't he have healed during the time he was out?" Oralie asked.
Elwin frowned after looking at the light. "No. I wouldn't have worked. His body needs his brain and mind to be functioning in order to start healing his body. The elixirs only did so much."
"Really? I've never heard of that before? I remember when-" Terik started to say, but cut himself off when the other Councillors started to glare at him. "Usually, say if someone was unconsious or something, they would still be able to heal any broken bones or any injuries."
Elwin nodded. "That is true, but there was something different about Kenric." he flashed a bunch of light and frowned again. "And that is why I think you guys need to have a talk with Sophie and Fitz."
Elwin motioned to them and Sophie started talking.
"When we started the healing, everything was normal. Kenric's mind was like Alden's mind when I was going to heal him." Sophie said, then looked to Fitz.
"His mind was a bit different than the last time we were there. He had an actual, tangible sanity that Sophie could save. And he was much faster to heal. In fact, I didn't even have to do anything."
Oralie thought that she could hear the slightest bit of bitterness in Fitz's last words.
Sophie nodded, "It was like Kenric's mind had been halfway healed, or halfway broken. It was much more clearer than the last time, which I should probably say thanks to Elwin's elixirs."
"What were those elixirs, by the way?" Emery asked Elwin.
"Well, our team of physicans made them ourselves. The three eliexirs we gave him were all supposed to clear a certain part of his mind. I had never heard of doing that, since I'm not a telepath. Which is why we have to thank Cayda, who is also a telepath."
