Right before we reached the building Minho got struck by the lightning.
"Minho!" I yelled
I turned around and ran to him. He wasn't responding and I was panicking. Jorge helped carry him to the building, and once we were inside he set him on the floor.
"Minho please open your eyes." Thomas said concerned.
I was soaking wet (don't think of it that way 😭😭) and water dripped down my face.
I was breathing heavily from running, I held Minho hand squeezing it a little.
"Come on kid." Jorge said.
He slowly opened his eyes and then a small smile crept across his face. I let go of his hand and hit his chest.
"You @sshole" I yelled at him
"You alright?" Thomas asked. He sat up carefully.
"I'll be okay."
I leaned against a pillar and closed my eyes. Everyone was drenched and cold. I looked at them and tried to contain my laughter. I put my hand over my mouth and looked at the ground.
"What?" Brenda asked me.
"We're a f*cking mess, look at Minho." I said giggling.
He had a charred shirt from the lightning and everyone's hair was out of control. They started laughing too and we all just sat on the floor waiting for the storm to stop.
I fell asleep and the next morning we walked around the city. I met a man selling fruit and I talked to him for a while. We all had masks up about our noses to hide our faces.
Minho came up behind me and I introduced him to the man.
"You aren't from here, are you?" The man asked
"How can you tell?" Minho said
"I'm just that good."
I smiled and handed him a 5 dollar bill for a container of strawberries.
"Have a nice day!" I told him.
"You too."
He winked and I walked away smiling with Minho. I held the container out for him and he ate one.
"They're pretty good."
"I sure hope so, I spent 5 whole dollars on them."
He smiled and I walked back to the building.
"What did you two find?" Newt asked
"Strawberries." I told him
I pulled down my mask and smiled. They passed around the container and Jorge went to start the truck.
"We need gas, who's gonna get it." Brenda asked.
"Not it." Newt said.
They all out their index finger on their noses and I was left standing there.
"You guys are so annoying." I grunted.
I pulled my mask up and went back into the city. I noticed a van that gave me a bad feeling and moved as fast as possible. Once I got the gas can, I headed straight back. On my way back I saw WCKD guards get out of the van.
"Ah f*ck" I cursed.
I turned down an alleyway and hid behind a car. The guards walked past me and I quickly ran out while they weren't looking. I got back to the others and rushed them to the truck.
"We Gotta go, WCKD is here." I warned them.
"Are you sure?" Newt asked.
"Pretty damn positive." I snapped back.
Everyone loaded into the truck and Jorge started driving to the mountains. We were about 2 miles away and everyone was getting eager to find Teresa and get home.
Me and Winston made a handshake while waiting and Brenda kept the radio playing to keep everyone entertained. We reached the mountains and there were a ton of cars blocking the path.
"I guess this is where we start walking." Jorge said and I groaned.
We got out and made our way further down the road.
