— CHAPTER 28 the current — —————————————————————— —
As I was pulled with the current, I hit tree branches, pieces of buildings, and so much more.
I tried to get my head above the water but it was too strong and kept pulling me under.
My hand touched the street and I knew I was far under the wave. I refused to open my eyes while under water but I had absolutely no idea where I was or the others.
I got caught on a branch and couldn't get off of it. I kicked it a few times and both me and the branch were pulled in the water again. I needed air as soon as possible or I was going to drown.
I started to fight the current to reach the surface and finally I was able to keep my head above the water.
I gasped for air and saw that the buildings were completely destroyed. I saw a fallen tree up ahead and grabbed onto the branch so I could stay afloat.
I coughed up water and groaned out in frustration. I had very little strength left and I just wanted to be back in the city with Brenda and Jorge.
I was worried about the gladers and just hoped that they were alive somewhere. Up ahead I saw someone holding onto a large floating sign and my heart started beating even faster.
"Hey!"
They slowly picked their head up and looked at me, it was Thomas.
"Elodie?!"
I smiled and laughed in between cries. I let go of the branch and tried to swim to him. Once I was close enough I grabbed onto the sign and he shifted closer to me.
He hugged me and I laid my head on his shoulder.
"I'm so glad your alive"
"I was so worried about you."
We let go of each other and struggled to keep floating on the sign.
"I haven't seen or heard anyone else."
"Same, I was under water for most of this though-"
"Elodie watch out!"
I turned to see what he was talking about when a piece of a roof knocked right into my side.
I tumbled back under the water and held my side in pain. I got up to the surface and Thomas was gone. I was alone and in a lot of pain.
I floated in the water while getting hit with things underneath me. After a few minutes I finally floated to an area where I could stand without being submerged in water.
The streets were still covered in debris but at least I was able to on my own. I laid on my side that wasn't in pain and took a while to catch my breath. After a few minutes I used all my strength to sit up.
I lifted my shirt and saw my side was bruised badly. I laid back down and closed my eyes because I was exhausted. Before I knew it I had fallen asleep.

Minho and newt had found each other a few minutes before and had started looking for anyone else. After a few more minutes Minho, newt, Thomas, and fry were together.
"Has anyone seen Ben, chuck or Elodie?" Minho asked
"I was with Elodie when we were still in the water but she got hit with something and I lost her."
Minho didn't say anything
"I'm sure she's okay Minho-" newt said trying to reassure him.
"Let's just keep looking."
He walked ahead of everyone and they looked at each other.
