— CHAPTER 24 the city — —————————————————————— —
The lights went out and I took a deep breath. The floor started rising.
"Holy sh*t"
The ceiling in the tube opened and I saw a bright light. I put my hand up to block it and I was lifted completely up into the middle of a city.
I immediately stepped off the horrible tube and looked around. I was walking towards a building and someone touched my shoulder. I screamed and turned around.
"Hey it's just me." Minho said.
I looked at him and felt relieved.
"I have no idea what's going on-" he said panicking
I hugged him and he just hugged me back.
"I'm so sorry."
"It's not you're fault, you got us out of there. We just couldn't go without you."
I let go of him.
"It's the second trial, it's gonna be natural disasters."
"Then why are you here?"
"I'm immune."
"There's no way-"
"That's what I said!"
"Come on, I'll show you where everyone else is."
We walked through the city and took notice of everything around us. We saw a group up ahead and about 50 yards away, the ground started to shake.
We all fell to our knees and a building behind us started to fall. After about 1 minute it stopped.
"I guess they're already starting." I said
Me and Minho ran to the others before something else might happen.
"What is going on?" Newt Said
"Elodie is immune and we're in the second trial. It's natural disasters."
Thomas looked at me.
"I know it's weird, anyways-"
More pieces of the building started falling.
"So what's next?" Thomas asked.
They looked at me.
"I don't know, why would I know?"
"You were with Janson the most." Winston said
"I promise I know nothing."
We started walking into a grocery store to look for food. I was walking with Thomas , newt and Minho around the aisles. I grabbed a few cans and threw them to newt so he could put them in his backpack.
While newt packed all the cans into his backpack Thomas noticed something.
"Hey Elodie what happened to your neck?"
I put my hand on my neck to cover the marks Janson left.
"Oh nothing."
I turned so they couldn't see and they all looked at each other.
"It doesn't look like nothing." Minho said.
The red marks were slowly fading to a bruise. I didn't answer Minho and walked a little faster. He jogged to catch up to me and grabbed my hand.
"Elodie let me see-"
"It's literally nothing, calm down."
He turned me around and looked closer at my neck.
"Oh my gosh Elodie." Thomas said.
"That's bloody intense."
"Did Janson do that to you?" Minho said concerned and angry.
