It was 2 o'clock at night. Mishti was sleeping in her room when a loud 'thakk' sound startled her and she woke up. She looked around and found the window rattling due to the stormy weather. She sighed and tried to get up but felt some weight on her stomach. She looked down and found Abir's hand securely wrapped around her waist. She looked towards her left and found him sleeping peacefully. This made Mishti's lips curve up in a smile and she kissed his forehead.
She gently removed his hand from her stomach and got up to close the window. She closed the window and turned back. She stood leaning there and thinking about her life in that month and all the bizarre encounters she had. She folded her right arm to her stomach and taking support of that arm, kept her left elbow on her wrist, closed her eyes and pressed her forehead with her thumb and index finger.
Mishti (in mind)- Yeh ho kya raha hai mere saath?? Jis din se mai iss ghar mein aayi hoon, uss din se ek ajeeb si feeling aa rahi hai. Sapne aana normal hai, par ek hi tarah ke sapne baar baar aana nahi. Aakhir kaun hai woh lady.
Just then the same news headline flashed in front of her eyes.
'Lady commits sucide after murdering her husband.'
Mishti shot her eyes open. Just then, something caught her attention. Something written on the mirror of the dressing table. She was confused and hence went near the mirror and what she saw made her eyes widened in horror.
KILL HIM was written on the mirror with blood, which was still wet and dripping down. Mishti was still not able to recover from the horror of the 'Kill him' thing, when she witnessed the same lady with a deteriorated face, eyes without eyeballs, hair covering half of her bloodied face, standing behind her through the mirror. Mishti shrieked. The lady attacks her and Mishti tries to escape.
Mishti (shouts)- Abir!!!!!!!!
'thakk'
.
.
.
Mishti (getting up with a jerk)- Abir!!Mishti immediately woke up, panting and sweating and sighed realising that it was just a nightmare, when she again heard the same 'thakk' sound. She looked towards her right and found the window rattling due to the stormy weather outside.
Mishti got up and closed the window. She turned around and shut her eyes to calm down herself but just then her heartbeat increased sensing something unusual around her. A pair of half decayed hands crept from her back to her shoulders and Mishti's breaths turned uneven. With a thumping heart, she slowly opened her eyes and slowly turned her neck to look towards her shoulder but didn't find anything and looked around scared, rubbing her shoulders where she still felt that filthy touch.
She gulped down and moved towards the bed. She felt thirsty but found the water jug empty and hence sighed defeatedly. Taking a glance at Abir, she left the room with the jug and came downstairs to drink water.
It was not the first time Mishti came out of her room to drink water at night, but in this house, the silence of the surroundings sent chills down her spine. She went near the dining table and poured water in the glass. Had it been a normal day in Rajkot, the sound of water being poured in the glass was never this loud, but here it feels as if the sound was being played in a loud speaker; all thanks to the creepy silence of this house.
Mishti felt as if someone was standing behind her but when she turned, she didn't find anyone and sighed. She was going back towards her room but heard an another window rattling. Mishti went to close it but as she held the window's handle and was about to close it, a body of a lady fell from the terrace and Mishti stumbled back all scared.
She immediately ran out of see whom she saw, but when she came out, she found none. Her heartbeats increasing and fear engulfed her mind. She was damn sure that she saw someone falling but here, she could see none. She looked around but no sound was heard except the wind taking form of a storm. Mishti moved ahead but slipped and fell down on her face. She felt her hands wet and when she saw her hands, her eyes widened in shock and fear and horror. Her hands trembled and it was as if she was not able to breathe. Her hands were covered with blood. As Mishti saw in front , she found the lady's decayed body in an unusual position with her arms and legs entangled, disfigured body, messy hair, her clothes covered with blood, face deteriorated was staring at her.
