Thom sat in his room once again, but this time, he did not cry. He did not weep in agony of the loss of his friend. No, he smiled. The smile hadn't left his face since he had gotten home. Jonny had spoken to him with no hatred in his voice. Not even the slightest bit. His apology was excepted, and now Thom felt that things were looking up for him and Jonnys relationship.

When he said relationship, he meant friend wise. He needed to realize that he and Jonny probably wouldn't be together again for a while, or maybe not even at all. That was the only thing that pained Thom right now. He still felt so much love for Jonny; he realized that as soon as they made eye contact a few days ago. Even seeing the hatred and confusion in Jonnys eyes, he couldn't help but love him.

He had felt that way since he was young, since he was about sixteen, but there was no doubt Jonny felt the same way. They didn't dare say anything about it until they were fifteen and seventeen when Jonny finally couldn't take it anymore and mentioned it to Thom. Being young and naive, they thought that if they shagged that the temptations would no longer eat at them and they could go on their way just being friends, but no, that didn't work.

It happened once, and then twice, and then three times, and by then they were too far gone to try and stop. But it wasn't just sex, it was love. They pretended it wasn't love, trying to push down the feelings and hide them as best they could when they were around each other, but it was so, so hard to hide. It wasn't spoken of why they tried to hide it. Maybe they were scared of how Colin would feel about it or maybe they were scared their parents would judge them.

Either way, Thom could feel those feelings for Jonny rising to the surface again. It scared him in a way. He worried that Jonny wouldn't feel the same way, but he would never know, because he wasn't going to ask. He was going to hide his feelings away unless Jonny gave him a solid 'yes, I like you to'.

So now, Thom sat in his room, holding the cassette tape he had been given. He looked it over a few times before opening his cassette player and removing the old tape which was the one given to him by Colin. He set the tape down on his bed and put in the new one, closing it and pressing play.

There were a few seconds of shuffling around on the tape before the song began to play. Thom smiled hearing just the first few chords. It was just like he remembered it being played. It was so nostalgic and as he listened on he could picture the two of them working to write this song.

Jonny hummed along with the tune where he remembered the lyrics and would stop when he didn't remember them, continuing to the play the beautiful melody. Thom was entranced, unable to move as he listened. It really was lovely and once the tape was over Thom waisted no time grabbing his guitar from its case and beginning to play the song over again, looking over the chords on the paper and playing them. He also began to place the lyrics where they sounded best, eventually coming out with a really amazing sounding song. Even if it was just a rough draft, it was nothing shy of incredible.

He played that song over and over up until the early hours of the morning where he finally decided he should try to sleep for a few hours. As much as he wanted to keep playing, he needed to give his brain a rest.

"Hey, Thom, there's a party going on tonight at my place. Up to go?" Colin asked, his voice muffled through the phone as he spoke.

"Yeah, what time should I get there?" Thom replied, leaning around the doorway of the bathroom to glance at his appearance. He hadn't fixed himself up since he woke, so he was still pretty rough looking. "And should I bring anything?"

"You can get here whenever. The party starts as soon as the drinks come out." Colin chuckles. "And yes, bring beer! As much as you can! We are going to need it, especially if you plan on getting pissed again."
