I turn in my sleep, as I reached my arm across the bed, nothing, the bed was empty, I then open my eyes to see the sun glaring at me through the cracks in my roof, I sigh as I get up, I get changed into some clothes and leave my hut, and head to the kitchen, "morning fry" I say as he hands my a plate of food, "morning yn, you look tired" he says to me with a chuckle, "I feel tired" I respond half heartedly.
"morning newt" I say as it sit beside him, as I look across at where ben and Minho normally sit, they must of left this morning to go on a run, "morning yn" newt says as he eats his breakfast, "hey guys" I hear as Alby sits opposite us, "yn if you don't mind can you work with newt today, we are a gardener short" I look at him confused, "is there someone injured?" I asked, Alby shakes his head, "no I gave him the day off" he told me, I look over at newt who was confused as me, but we both knew better to not question Alby, maybe that was what he liked about us so much, we never questioned his decisions, "ok I can help newt out" I say as I eat my breakfast, "oh don't we get a new greenie tomorrow?" newt asks Alby, "yeah I think so" Alby responds as he scratched the back of his neck.
after breakfast me and newt head over to the garden "I never realised how much plants and shit we had" I say as I look around, "yeah well if you haven't noticed there are a lot of bloody people in the glade" he says as he smirks at me, I laugh a little, "so what am I suppose to do?" I ask him as I look, newt hands me a basket, "oh you are going to have so much fun" he says as he smirks, "I have a feeling you are lying to me?" I say to him as I laugh nervously, "well love, you are going to be picking all the vegetables here" he says as he points to loads of crops, "all of them?" I ask his as I look worried, he just chuckles and nods, "good luck I have to be chopping wood" he says as he walks off, "great" I mutter as I start gathering vegetables.
A few hours later, the sun was hitting my back as I felt I started to overheat, "hey how are you getting on?" I turn around to see newt who looked like he was a lot warmer than I was, "it is so boring" I complain, he just laughs, "told you that you would love it, you look about halfway done, don't worry I finished with the wood so did zart" newt says as he looks back to zart who was holding a basket, "does that mean you will help?" I asked him hopeful, "yeah we will help but this will still take a few hours" he warned me, I nod as we start to pick the vegetables again.
"finally!" I heard Zart say, "what do we need to do now?" I ask Newt, "relax" newt says as he chuckled at Zart who is already putting his basket away, then I followed the rest of them as we went to the kitchen as we grabbed some dinner and I sat with Newt and Zart, "so like being a Gardner?" Zart asks me, "nope!" I said a little too quickly which made newt and Zart chuckle a little, "I am staying in the med-bay from now on" I say as I crossed my fingers, Alby walks over to us, "hey guys is Minho and Ben back yet?" he asks us, the three of us shake our heads, "shank" Alby muttered under his breath as he walked over to the direction of the maze entrance, I look at newt and Zart at the three of us simultaneously all stand up and follow Alby to the entrance of the maze.
someone shouts, "where are yous going?" then newt turns around, "come on the runners are not back yet" as the rest of the Gladers abandoned their dinner and headed to the entrance of the maze.
we waited around for a few minutes then we see Minho, carrying ben, "what happened?" I mutter, "I don't know but it doesn't look good" Alby says as we stare, suddenly the maze doors move, without thinking I make a run for it, once I reach Minho, I go to the other side of ben and put his arm around my shoulder and me and Minho start to drag him out, "what the are you doing shank?" Minho says as he grunts as he pushes ben, "helping" I say as I look ahead I see the Gladers shouting at us as we kept on moving, we eventually got to the exit as Ben falls to the ground.
I sit beside him, "what happened?" I asked panicked as I look at Minho, "he did something to his ankle" ben winced in pain, "can you two take him to the med-bay please" I say to two builders, they nod and carefully lift up Ben and head to the med-bay me and Minho follow, "did anything happen to you?" I asked him concerned, he shakes his head as he doesn't look at me only ben who was still wincing in pain.
once we got to the med-bay and the two builders placed him down and left, I turned to Minho, "you can leave I will call you when he is ok" I tell him, Minho looks at me "no, I am not leaving him" he says as he shakes his head, and stand beside Bens bed.
before I could say anything clint and Jeff burst in, "yn we heard what happened can we help?" clint says to me, "uhm" I say as I look at clints ankle, "clint go to the library and get the anatomy book volume 2" I tell him, then I look at Jeff "Jeff can you get a glass of water for me?" then I look open a cabinet and reach up to one of the higher shelves and pull out some pills, I take two from the packet and put the rest back, I then turn around as Jeff enter the room with some water as he hands it to me, "thanks" I say as I take the glass and walk over to Ben, "hey ben do you mind taking these, they should help with the pain" I say sympathetically as I have him the pills, ben doesn't respond as he swallows the pills and takes a sip of the water.
"I have the book" Clint says as he hands it to me, "thanks" I say as I flip through some pages, at page 152 there it was, how to reset a broken ankle, "I don't know if I am strong enough for it.." I say as I read a part of the book that says it takes a lot of strength, "I-I-I can do it" Clint says, "I want to be useful" he adds, I nod, "you sure?" I ask, Clint nods back, "ok Minho hold ben down you too Jeff" as they do so Ben looks at me worried, "it will be fine" I reassure him, as I start to explain to clint how to reset bens ankle he nods understanding what to do, I then walk over to ben and stand at his head as Minho and Jeff were holding him down and Clint was standing at bends broken foot, I then gesture to clint so ben doesn't see as I counted down from five using my fingers, as I crouch down and whisper into Bens ear "want flashed?" I say as I signalled for Clint to reset his foot, my idea worked, Ben then looked up at me shocked and forgot about his foot, this was enough to reduce his pain, he still grunts a little a few moments later, "I see what you did" he says to me a little annoyed.
"no running for a while and you should be fine" I say as I laugh a little as ben huffs, "what did you say to him?" Jeff asks as he laughs a little in confusion, "that's a secret" I joke, "well done clint" I say as I congratulate him, clint and Jeff then leave the room, I look over at Minho, "you ok?" I ask him, he looks up at me, and smiles kindly at me, "yeah yn, thank you" he says as he looks down at ben, "I will leave you two" I say as I turn around and leave.
