3rd person pov
the next day, dorothea got dressed and she walked out to the fields that she and lucy gray used to meet at. she knew the way like the back of her hand and she walked up behind her to hear her singing the song that they wrote and she smiled. the hanging tree was their song and it had always been from the beginning
"you found me" lucy gray said once she heard dorotheas footsteps and dorothea froze with a smile and a shake of her head
"you thought i wouldn't?" dorothea asked and lucy gray shook her head as she put down the guitar and she stood up
"i knew you would, I'm just a little bit shocked is all. how are you back in twelve?" lucy gray asked
"Long story short, I gave district families money, and my parents found out and sent me back. I asked to be sent here in hopes that you would be here. I also missed the covey and so I wanted to see them" dorothea told her and lucy gray smiled
"your parents sent you away for being a good person? Dorothea that just don't seem right" lucy gray spoke and dorothea nodded
"it's not but I'm here with you now, so I don't really care if it's right or wrong. I'm just really glad you're alive, I thought I would never see you again" dorothea exclaimed
"that goes for both of us" lucy gray told her girlfriend and she walked forward as she grabbed dorotheas hand and she smiled at her. they wrapped their fingers around each other and pressed their foreheads together
"dean highbottom had them send me home, he put me on a train himself and gave me some money. he told me that they sent coriolanus to 8" she said and dorothea nodded
"when Coryo gave you the stuff that helped you in the arena he wasn't supposed to. It was considered breaking the rules, so they wanted to send him to a district to punish him. He asked to be sent to 12 the same as I did, but I think for two totally different reasons. I'm really glad he saved your life though because I already lost one person and I couldn't lose you too" dorothea told her and lucy gray shook her head with a sigh
"i know and I'm sorry for not telling you or anything. i just didn't have a way" lucy gray stated and dorothea sighed
"I didn't expect a call or a letter, I knew that it was hard. I just was worried Lucy Gray I always worry about you." dorothea told her and lucy gray grabbed her face as she stared into her eyes and dorothea stared into hers too
"i just missed you lucy gray, youre safe and we're together and that's all I've ever wanted" dorothea told her and lucy gray leaned in as she kissed her and dorothea kissed back. she held her breath for as long as she could without the fear of dying or losing her breath because she finally had lucy gray back and she could finally do this again. her hands reached lucy grays waist as lucy grays held her neck, dorothea had to bend down but she didn't care because at least now she could finally kiss her again.
the air around them swirled, they could hear the branches and trees sway as the grass touched their legs and moved around them. it felt as if the world was agreeing with them being together in this way again and they couldn't stop for anything because they didn't want to stop for anything but they had to. the air was tight and they were losing their breath so they pulled apart and sighed
"i missed that, i missed you" lucy gray told her and dorothea smiled as she looked down at the girl and nodded as she brushed her hair behind her ear
"I missed you too" dorothea said and then they heard the sound of a voice behind them and they turned to see maude ivory running toward them. she ran towards them and dorothea smiled at the sight of the girl
"your peacekeeper friends, ill handle this. they'll be here about the fight last night" lucy gray spoke and she went to walk away
"I'm not gonna hide you again lucy gray, even if that means i die" dorothea said and lucy gray smiled at her
"you'll continue to meet me at the lake in the woods right, i think its the only place we can be together where we can free and be ourselves without having to fear the idea of death" lucy gray said and dorothea nodded
"ill be there always, hi Maude!" she said and Maude stepped forward as she hugged dorothea and dorothea smiled as she hugged the girl back and sighed. she had missed her since she had left and gone to the capitol but it was good to see her.
"all right, we have to go. maude, can you get my guitar?" lucy gray asked and Maude nodded as she grabbed the guitar and the two girls ran off together. dorothea smiled before she remembered that she had to head back to the district. she walked in and saw sejanus talking to a group of people and then she saw coriolanus not too far away approaching him
"dorothea youre back! hows lucy gray?" he asked her and she smiled with a shrug and a shake of her
"shes good, you explorin'?" dorothea questioned and sejanus nodded before coriolanus chimed in and she watched the two of them w=fight over helping the districts and she could see coriolanus for who he was now
just how far would he go with this and what would happen?
