Background: Lucy Chen is 25 years old and officially completed her training at the LAPD Academy. She met two of her best friends there, John Nolan and Jackson West. She's been dating a guy named Luke for three years. She met him in college and he was really sweet at first. They started dating and he got a bit more aggressive. They would get into lots of arguments but he always found a way to make it seem like her fault. Eventually, he would start hitting, kicking, punching her in covered up places like her stomach and back. He convinced her it was all her fault. They both took psychology majors so he knew how to manipulate her. Lucy wanted a change in her life, to get away from Luke and prove her parents wrong, so she became a police officer. Today is her first day as a rookie in the mid wilshire division.

*At The Station*
Lucy's POV:
I walked into the station and changed into my uniform after processing a guy. He tried stealing my broke down car so I already made my first arrest. I walked over to the roll call room and sat next to Jackson, John came in a minute later. We sat in the front row where the rookies sit. Then, our watch commander/sergeant started to talk.
Grey: Settle down. So, okay, we got some new blood this morning. And some pushing the expiration date.
He said poking fun at John because he was older, 46 years old to be exact. The other officers laughed. I couldn't help but smile.
Grey: Get up.
he said to us as we were the rookies. We all stood up.
Grey: After six months together in the academy, you've earned the right to be here. But, you'll have to prove yourself to stay. The way we do things matters. Protocol and tradition are the metal from which every cop in this city is forged. Understand?
John: Yes, sir
Jackson and I nodded
Grey: sit down
We all did
Grey: It's time to play the training officer match game. Our contestants are... Lucy Chen, a hotshot who made her first arrest before clocking in for work. Legacy Jackson West, who broke all his dad's records at the academy. And, John Nolan who was born before disco died.
A bunch of officers laughed.
Grey: and the winners are... Officer Bradford, you get our hotshot. Officer Lopez, you get our Legacy. Leaving Officer Bishop to ride along with our 40 year old Rookie.
I looked back at my training officer. He sat with his arms crossed and a stern look on his face. He didn't smile or nod his head or even wave back. Just sat there like stone. He had these beautiful ocean eyes, short dirty blonde hair, and looked really fit. I mean, he probably was considering he's a police officer. I quickly turned around and listened again.
Grey: Now hear me. Today is your first day. Don't let it be your last. Forget the Academy and Listen to your TO's. They'll teach you the way it should be done. That's it. All right. Be safe out There.
I headed over by my TO.
Tim: grab the gear boot
Lucy: yes, sir
I grabbed our gear and body cams. He then took us over to a squad car and gave me strict instructions.
Tim: This is your shop. Do not call it a car. It is where you will work. First you check the exterior for damage. Any nicks scrapes or dents- log em in. Has the suspect left anything? Money? Drugs?
I looked inside the opened shop door.
Tim: why aren't you taking notes, Officer Chen? You think I'm impressed because you picked some low-hanging fruit on your way to work?
he said in a harsh tone talking about the arrest I made earlier.
Lucy: No, sir.
I said in a confident tone.
Tim: Onto the shotgun safety check. Verify It's empty. Clear it. Close the action. Check the bags.
Lucy: We have police tape, road flares, spike strips.
Tim: Body Cam check
Lucy's: Officer Lucy Chen
He nodded his head and continued his instructions. We sat inside the shop.
Tim: Now, we're inside the shop. Log in to the computer. Put in our serial number. Test lights and sirens. Finally, check yourself. You're about to hit the streets with a loaded handgun and no idea what happens next.
Lucy: got it, all good here
We started to drive around and just did some basic patrol.
Tim: so why do you want to become a cop?
Lucy: is this a trick question?
Tim; you want me to train you, i need to know why you're in this car.
Lucy: ok um... my parents are both therapists, so you know it was all feelings-
Tim slammed on the breaks
Tim: I've been shot!
Lucy: wh-
Tim: Where are you boot?
he yelled at me. But he wasn't shot, there was no blood or anything. This was some kind of test...
Lucy: Wh-What?
Tim: I'm bleeding to death. You have to call for help. Where are you?
Lucy: Uh-
Tim: Where are you!?!
Lucy: um...
I unbuckled my seat belt and looked out the shop's window for street signs.
Tim: now i'm dead. It's your fault. Get out.
Lucy: what?
Tim: Get out and walk. You can get back in when you know where you are.
I got out of the shop and started to walk, he drove slowly by my side. I still don't get the point of all this. Was it to make sure I never let my guard down and always know where I am? because then the lesson is definitely learned.
Tim: You know where you are yet Officer Chen? No? Then finish your story, why you became a cop. Here, I'll do it for you. You wanted to piss off your parents for making you talk about your feelings and all that crap.
Some truck honked at Tim. They had all sorts of veichle violations. Tim got out of the car and walked over to them, I followed.
Tim: Gentlemen, I have an honest question for you. Were you grown in a petri dish of stupid?
Driver: por favor no hablo ingles
(please, I don't speak english)
Tim: Don't pull that crap with me
I interrupted him asking the other people in the truck
Lucy: licencia y registro por favor
(licenses and registration please)
Tim: well aren't you fancy?
he scoffed
Tim: Tell him that it's immigrants like them that make Americans like you look bad. If it was up to me, we'd send them all back by catapult.
Is he joking? no way in hell am I telling these poor people that! Is he some stereotypical white guy with the bonus of being racist, and a cop at that matter?!?
Lucy: Umm... dijo... debes evitar tocar la bocina a la policía cuando tu camión infringe la mayoría de los códigos de vehículos.
(he said... you should avoid honking at the police when your truck is in violation of most vehicle codes.)
Tim: officer Chen, a word?
I walked by Tim and we went away from the truck. He clicked my body cam.
Tim: Do I strike you as a man who means what he says?
Lucy: Yes, sir.
Tim: Do I seem laid back to you? Wishy Washy in any way?
Lucy: No, sir
Tim: En ese caso, ¿por qué cambiarías las palabras que salen de mi boca?
(In that case, why would you change the words that come out of my mouth?)
Tim: Everything is a test, Officer Chen, and you just got another "F". I know what you're thinking, was that casual racism a test, too, or just the Spanish? Unfortunately for you, there's no way to know.
What an asshole. If he knew spanish, why wouldn't he tell them that himself!?! I have to deal with fucking Luke at home and now this shit at work too!?! If i become a police officer in the end, it's worth it. We ended up leaving them with some warnings about the car and then continued patrol like usual. We ended up responding to a call about a crazy guy in a traffic jam. John and his training officer Talia Bishop were already there. John started talking the guy down but then he started running. John took off after him. I looked at Officer Bradford.
Tim: Go get him, boot
I took off running and caught up to John. I ended up jump tackling the guy while John was busy getting stuck in a fence. I handcuffed the guy. He started talking about some kid named Luca and a unicorn. We found out his son was named Luca and the car was left by a unicorn shaped balloon. John saved him and we headed to lunch. I ordered Tim and I's food. Training officer sit different from their TO's.
Tim: You didn't forget the hot sauce, did you?
I sighed and walked back to get him his hot sauce. Then, I finally sat down by John and Jackson. We talked about our TO's. Jackson said his TO, Angela Lopez, is nice but strict, like a good TO is. John thinks officer Bishop and sergeant Grey hate him. I filled them in on the whole mind games and how rude Tim is. We finished eating and went back on patrol. It wasn't before long the awkward silence ended and shift was over. I headed out for drinks with John and Jackson.

*At The Bar*
A badge bunny grew rather fond of John and Jackson and I did karaoke. Finally, the night came to an end, I headed to my apartment.

*Lucys Apartment*
Lucy: I'm home
Luke: Finally, what took you so damn long?!?!
Lucy: I was out with some friends from work. I picked you up some food.
Luke: What friends? you just started?!? and who would be friends with you?!?
Lucy: I told you, my friends from the academy, John and Jackson
Luke: guys... of course you're friends with guys
Lucy: what's that supposed to mean?
Luke: don't raise your voice at me, fucking bitch!
Lucy: ...sorry... there my friends because there are no other girl rookies in my division and they're nice to me. Also, they're good people
Luke: let me guess, good in bed too?!?
Lucy: no, Jackson isn't straight, and with John there's to big of an age gap
Luke: like you've never slept with an older man before!
Lucy: I haven't! you know this!
Luke: don't get snappy with me! I only want whats best for you!
Lucy: how is this what's best for me?!?!?
Luke: It would be if you just shut the fuck up and acted like a normal person!
He started to walk towards me
Lucy: no... i'm sorry! i'm sorry! No, mark please!
He kneed me in the stomach and I fell to the ground.
Luke: I'm sorry Lucy, I just love you so much that I get jealous too easily. Maybe if you just weren't so damn beautiful
I couldn't tell if he was serious or trying to make me smile. A tear fell out of my eye. He went to wipe it away and I flinched. He wiped it and then helped me up. More tears came, I tried to hide it, my abdomen now killing me. I sat down with him as he ate in silence.
Luke: Time for bed?
Lucy: uh yeah sure
Luke: how was your first day?
Lucy: pretty good, my training officer is a bit difficult, but that's what I expected
Luke: that's good to hear
Lucy: ..yeah...
Luke: how about a shower?
Lucy: ..i don't know... i'm- i'm really tired
Luke: c'mon you're not going to bed dirty
Lucy: I could just do a quick rinse alone- and then go to bed
Luke: c'mon lucy, we're showering
Lucy: Luke... please..no
my voice started to break
He pulled me with him into the bathroom. He started undressing me as I cried and tried fighting him off. He got undressed too and pushed us into the shower.
Lucy: Luke, no, stop!
Luke: what? you don't like it?
Lucy: no! stop!
Luke: i'll make you like it
he started to come down on me. He raped me and I just sat there, limp, useless, and alone. After about half an hour, but what felt like an eternity, he stopped.
Luke: you clean yourself up, i'm getting dressed.
I couldn't move or speak. after a few minutes of just sitting there, I started scrubbing myself. I couldn't get the feeling of him off of me. I felt gross and a feeling words just can't describe. After about 15 minutes of scrubbing luke walked in the bathroom, he seemed mad that i wasn't in bed yet. He dried my red skin off and brought me pajamas. I got changed and we headed to bed. I was silent, felt gross, my body hurt, my skin was sore, and my hair was soaking my pajamas. This felt like a living hell.

A/N: This is similar to one of my other stories! Just in this one, Lucy doesn't have a kid because I feel like I have more room to do things this way! I also forgot to mention that in this version Lucy and John will not date! stay tuned for the next part and I hope you enjoyed!
