Tim's POV:
I went to bed that night and kept waking up. Something's off with my new boot. I don't know why or what but she just seems... broken. I know that seems rude but I don't mean it that way. I mean it in the sense she's hurt, she reminds me of me when my dad was beating me, she just seems so fragile and delicate. She can handle herself on the job but as soon as she's off duty, she has a different guard up, an emotional one. I know i'm probably crazy as i've only known her a few days, but something tells me i'm not. I managed to fall asleep for good at around 3. I have 3 hours before work.

Lucy's POV:
That night when I fell asleep i dreamed I wasn't here anymore. I was dead. I saw who really cared for me and actually loved me. It was no one. John and Jackson were upset but not heartbroken. That was it not even Luke. But he says he loves me and calls me pretty? so does he love me?

Tim's POV:
The next morning I woke up and was exhausted I headed into work at 6, 45 minutes early. To my surprise Lucy was there.
Tim: Why are you here so early?
Lucy: um... just thought i'd be early for you first day back

Lucy's POV:
obviously i was here early to avoid Luke but that works too i guess
Tim: yeah i heard you were almost 45 minutes late yesterday
thoughts of what Luke did to me flooded my head and i tried to hide it but my eyes glazed over. The over whelmed me and his words flooded my head. "you're useless else where" "don't be more trash than you already are" "you'll never know anything better than me" A tear slipped down my cheek. Before I knew it, Tim locked the door and shut the blinds.
Tim: Hey, you okay?
Lucy: I just yawned
Tim: like you yawned when you were at the hospital with Grey?
Lucy: he told you?
Tim: i'm your TO, he wanted me to make sure you were okay
Lucy: I get it
Tim: now what's bothering you? As Tim and Lucy, not Bradford and Chen
Lucy: nothing it's fine
Tim: come on, it's never nothing
Lucy: please Tim
My eyes couldn't hold the water back and tears rolled down my cheeks, lots of them
He went to wipe them away and I flinched
Tim: Hey it's ok
He wiped them off my cheek gently and I tried to look away. We held eye contact and it was silent for a few minutes
Tim: you okay?
Lucy: i think so
he pulled me in for a hug and I wiped the rest of my tears away. I so badly wanted to break down again and just stay here forever. I know that could never happen. Tim's my boss and has now seen my cry, great, this will prove i'm strong really well.

Tim's POV:
she seemed so hurt and broken, even more than before. Who hurt her? I tried my best to comfort her and waited for her to calm down before I let go of her.
Tim: you okay now?
Lucy: mhmm
She nodded her head yes and i opened the blinds and unlocked the door
Tim: coffee?
Lucy: sure
I poured her a cup of coffee and we sat down
Tim: you wanna talk about it?
Lucy: not really
Tim: i understand, but when you need to or want to, you can come to me
Lucy: thank you
we drank our coffee and then headed to roll call

Lucy's POV:
I didn't know what I should do now, I cried and never wanted to stop. I can't be a baby or over react. Maybe Luke was right anyway, it just hurt that he was. I sat down in roll call day dreaming and just imagining a world without me and then a world without Luke. those are the only two universes in which I can be happy and it would be easier if I was gone.

Tim's POV:
before i entered roll call, Grey came and talked to me.
Grey: So, how you feeling?
Tim: Good. Everything okay with my green slip?
Grey: Yeah. Yeah, you're medically cleared to return to duty. Which means it's time for the "so you got shot" speech. I only give it to officers wounded on the job.
Tim: Lucky me
Grey: Yeah, lucky you. So, you came in this morning thinking everything goes back to normal now, you can just flip a switch, and the trauma you suffered will go away. It won't. But you're trying to muscle your way through. That's what I did. Trust me, it didn't go well.
Tim: I didn't know you got shot
Grey: My last year on patrol. Spent two weeks in the ICU. Rushed back thinking I could put it all behind me, but it doesn't work that way
Tim: I understand. I promise I'll take it slow.
Grey: okay
I headed into roll call, lucy looked at me so i let out a small smile and sat down. The officers clapped and I gave them a small smile.
Grey: All right, all right, all right. Settle down. Settle down. Let's get to it. You ready, Officer Nolan? 'Cause once again, we start with you
John: I'm flattered?
Grey: Don't be. Yesterday, a four-man crew disguised as zombies knocked over a cash advance near Pico and Robertson. So, Officers Bishop and Nolan were able to apprehend two of the criminals, while the other two escaped. Somehow, Officer Nolan managed to let a civilian steal ten grand in already stolen cash. Luckily, CCTV captured our thief. Still waiting on an I.D.
John: uh he plays the guitar if that helps
Grey: Absolutely. 'Cause they always list special talents on your rap sheet
Captain Andersen walked into the room
Grey: Captain. How can we help you?
Andersen: First off, I wanted to welcome Tim Bradford back. If you need anything, you let me know.
Tim: yes ma'am
Andersen: Secondly, we just got some new intel on our zombies. Turns out that they're responsible for a rash of armed robberies in the last six months, always disguised differently. Detectives want to get the two in custody to flip on their partners at large, but there is no guarantee, so don't stop hunting. Finally, we got a request for a civil standby. Turns out somebody's getting fired from a tech job. Supervisor's worried things may not go right.
Grey: Babysitting a termination: a patrol officer's favorite assignment. So, who shall I bless with it?
nolan raised his hand
Grey: Officer Nolan, are you volunteering?
John: Just embracing the inevitable air
Grey: Smart man. Get the address from Dispatch. That's it.
We all dispersed and lucy grabbed the war bags. i sat down in the shop with her.
Lucy: You sure you don't want me to drive?
Tim: Why would I want that, Boot? You think I'd go back on duty before I'm 100 percent?
Lucy: No sir
Tim: Or do you think simply doing your job during a firefight means you get special treatment?
Lucy: No sir
Tim: You'll drive when you've earned it.
Lucy: Yes, sir. It's good to have you back
Tim: Damn straight
We got a call about a guy stuck in a wall at a bank
Bank manager: Mike went inside to fix an ATM last night before we closed, and we forgot he was in there and left. The lock must have broke when he tried to come back out, and he's been inside all night. Pushed this note through the receipt slot when he heard us come in.
Tim: Control, 7-Adam-19 requesting LAFD to 3301 Ditmer, for a guy trapped in a wall. Sir, we're gonna get you out of there. Sir, can you hear me?
a piece of paper came out and we couldn't make out any words
Lucy: what's that supposed to mean
Tim: Hypoxia. Go grab the Halligan out of the trunk. We can't wait for the fire department. Sir, I need you to get low so I can open this wall up. How tall is the space behind the ATM?
Bank manager: Oh, I don't know. It's pretty cramped in there. About five feet.
I grabbed the Halligan tool from Lucy and took a few swings at the wall. It hurt my side really bad. It felt like my skin was ripping open again.
Tim: Why am I doing this? Boot, get in there.
She grabbed the tool and made a hole in the wall
Lucy: sir, are you alright?
the guy went to the hole and breathed in the air. he was checked out by paramedics and we left to go back on patrol.
