Todd POV
"This is Echo Delta, we have a visual on the crash site, dropping decent rope." I heard Ash's voice over the comms. "Copy that, good luck guys." The pilot wished us luck "I'll stay on-board and provide sniper support if necessary." I heard Fisher state, and Ash nodded at him. I grabbed the thick rope and slid down, my boots quickly making contact with the dirt floor of the forest. Broken glass and metal shards littered the ground, and shrubbery and trees were disturbed by the chopper that lie smoking in front of us. At first glance, I would've guessed that all the occupants were crushed on impact, but then I noticed some foliage and supplies scattered around the outside. "This is Echo Delta, we have contact on the aircraft, moving up, standby." As we peered in, it was apparent that the crew on-board had survived. There was no blood, bodies, anything of the such.
"Echo Delta be advised, drones report heat signatures moving Southwest of your current 10-20, how copy over?" I heard Baseplate advise over comms. "Todd! You got the best results on tracking, start seeking!" I heard Ash bark at me. "I swear, you make me do this because it means I have to get dirty..." I muttered as I walked past her to find something I can use to find these guys. Crawling inside the wreckage, I found a discarded pilot's helmet and a few headsets. Then, there! A footprint in the dirt just outside. I sniffed it and memorized the smell, I quickly stood up and sniffed the air. Looking...looking...looking...there! I managed to find the smell of the boot, along with its owner. I smell...sausage, yum. Steel and gunpowder? Definitely armed. Slowly, I manage to piece together what they all look like.
'Three, maybe four human soldiers, two or three rifles, one might have a machine gun.' I took note of the heavy-caliber weapon mounts. "Damn, this thing is ancient." I looked back to see Tammy had crawled inside too, and was inspecting a dirtied M16A1. It's dated design clearly showing signs of extended use, evident by the gunpowder marks near the ejection port and muzzle. "Hey Todd, wanna start tracking these guys? The longer we wait the further they get." Ash said giving me a death glare. I rolled my eyes. "Whatever, I'm followin' em." I said, starting to follow the scent. Slowly but surely.

Jonathan POV
We had managed to reach the structure that Tommy had spotted. Upon arriving, we saw a number of civilian and military vehicles with a fair amount of overgrowth on them. From what we were able to gather, this was an old military evacuation point, the cars and other structures still had paint on their dated chassis, so it was probably only a few years old, however the spent bullet casings and several skeletons we found throughout the place gave an idea as to what happened here. We decided to take shelter in an overgrown, abandoned clinic. Barricades and rusted iron bars put up by its previous residents made it a decent place to set up camp. As I began to explore the crumbling, rusty ruins, I used my handheld radio to communicate with the others, its big, bulky size earning it the name 'the brick.'
