Jonathan POV
I groaned and opened my eyes, to see the asphalt of a road, and saw that I was still strapped into the chopper, but the entire front half was missing. I undid the restraints and saw Ash was also unconscious and still strapped in. I noticed flames outside, and quickly undid her restraints and pulled her free of the wreckage. After getting her clear, I quickly ran back to check for the others. I wasn't able to see them, and ran back to Ash, seeing as the section of chopper we were in was about to be engulfed by flames.
"This is Echo Delta-07, does anyone read me?" My radio only responded with intense static and interference. "Great, nothing like radio interference after being separated from the rest of the team." I heard a groan, and turned to see Ash just waking up. "Glad you could join me. Sleep well?" I chuckled a bit and helped Ash sit up. "Fucking hell...where's everyone else?" "Dunno, woke up and saw the entire front half of the chopper missing, it was only you I saw, so I got you out before the fire devoured the wreckage."
She suddenly looked down an alley, her ears twitched; As if hearing something I couldn't. "Do you hear that?" I strained my ears, hearing the faint sound of a car approaching. "All friendly forces were pulled out, that's gotta be FIA. We gotta find a hiding spot." I spotted a burnt out car, and quickly pointed towards it. Ash nodded and we quickly dashed behind it. As if on cue, a black humvee pulled into view, a mounted turret slowly rotating towards it.
I crouched behind the engine block and waited. I heard the brakes whine as it crawled to a stop, doors opening and footsteps crunching on the gravel. "Damn UF getting in our way, kinda wish they didn't find out about it." "Agreed, it'd be a lot easier exterminating this human scum." "Eh, at least we actually get to fight now, better then just sitting in those damn camps. Then again, kinda miss the taste of humans." "Yeah, when we win this shit war, we'll turn those hairless freaks into delicacy dishes. Mmmm...roasted human."
I was disgusted. 'They ate humans?! Who does that?!' I scowled as they slowly approached the flaming wreck, carefully observing. "Eh, if anything those bastards burned alive. Fuckin' cunts." More gravel crunched as they slowly walked back to their humvee. I waited until they were closing their doors-"THROWING FRAG!" I chucked the grenade directly at their mounted turret, and the following clinks indicated that my throw was head-on, going through the hatch and into the humvee.
There was muffled screaming and yelling, and the entire humvee exploded, followed by massive flames as the fuel tank exploded. "Damn, good throw human." I heard Ash murmur as she looked at the flaming wreck. "No doubt their friends are gonna wonder why they aren't reporting back, best get a move on." I climbed a rusted fire escape, and made my way up to the roof. "Human! Where are you going?!"
I looked down to see Ash standing below. "I'm goin' up top to look for the other half of the chopper, no doubt it's close by." She shook her head before finally starting to climb up. Reaching the top, I scanned across the surrounding area-"There!" I spotted a small plume of smoke, rising from across the way. "I have a potential visual on the other half of the downed chopper." Ash hoisted herself onto the roof, quickly spotting the plume as well. "Well, I'll give you one thing Jonathan, you certainly are efficient." I chuckled and grabbed the ladder and started climbing back down.
Quickly reaching the floor, I pulled Ash behind a dumpster. "What're you-" I hushed her just as two more black humvees drove past. She nodded knowing the situation I just saved us from. I crept forward and looked left and right, seeing the following humvee turn around a corner. I sprinted forward, followed by Ash. We ducked into an abandoned convenience store, double checking that we weren't being followed.
I yanked my brick out of it's pouch and quickly extended the antenna. "This is Echo Delta-07 to 02, 03, 04, 05, or 06, whoever reads me, over." I waited a moment, before finally hearing Todd's voice. "This is Echo Edlta-5, we read you, please advise location, over." "I am approaching the front half of the downed chopper, I have Ash with me, any casualties?" "Negative, we're taking shelter near an abandoned Shell Gas Station, over."
"Copy that, we're gonna try to make our way towards your location, be advised I've lost my long-range antenna and am unable to reach Baseplate, over." "Don't worry Jonathan, we've already contacted them and they're sending an evac chopper, over." "Roger that, over and out." I put my brick back and turned to Ash. "They're all alive and well, and they're at a Shell Gas, evac is enroute, but we need to hurry."
She nodded and we ran through the back exit...running smack dab right into an FIA patrol. "What the-THEY'RE HER-AUGH!" I sent a round into his skull, quickly being met with enemy gunfire. I crouched behind a concrete barrier and turned to Ash. "Cover me!" She nodded and sprung up, letting a round of shots loose. I quickly threw a grenade before crouching down again.
There was an explosion, and I could hear the soldiers yelling, while others screamed in agony. "Throwing smoke!" I grabbed Ash and pulled her along just as the smoke deployed, concealing us from the FIA. "They're in the smoke!" "Augh! Can't see em!" "Doesn't matter! Open fire!" I could hear bullets whizzing all around us. I dove to the ground, allowing them to waste their ammunition. Once they stopped firing, we started running again.
Suddenly, I felt a hand grab my shoulder and yank me behind a concrete barrier, and I instinctively tried to fight back. "Jonathan! JONATHAN! It's me Marcus! Jesus..." I stopped trying to reach for my knife and relaxed. "Evac is five klicks out! Get ready to move!"
Tammy POV
Bullets were whizzing all around, an explosion occurred somewhere in the background. We were being forced into this dead end. Suddenly, I heard chopper blades, and a UH-60 Blackhawk flew into view through the smoke, quickly landing behind us. "EXFIL IS HERE! GET TO THE CHOPPA!" Todd and Marcus quickly leapt inside, I hopped up and leaned out of the chopper, making sure to firmly grip the handlebar.
"ASH! FISHER! ADLEY! JONATHAN! GET IN HERE NOW!" Ash grabbed Adley and pulled her back, still firing at the FIA. "RPG!" A rocket suddenly exploded, shattering the concrete barrier and sending Fisher and Jonathan flying. "FISHER! JONATHAN!" Fisher grabbed a grenade and stood up to throw it-SPLAT. A bullet flew through Fisher's skull, sending him to the floor, his lifeless eyes still filled with rage and determination.
"NO!" Another RPG whizzed past the chopper, narrowly missing it. Jonathan turned and started to run through the bullets towards the chopper. He grabbed Fisher's dog tags and hurled them at me. I snatched them out of the air and leaned forward to grab Jonathan's hand-"THEY HAVE A LOCK! ABORT!" The chopper suddenly ascended right as I was about to grab his hand.
"NO! GO BACK DOWN WE STILL HAVE A MAN DOWN THERE!" "We can't go back down there! That's suicide!" The pilot screamed back at me. I grabbed my radio. "JONATHAN! JONATHAN COME IN DO YOU COPY?!" I was met with static. I fell to my knees, sobbing. There was no telling what those bastards would do to him.
Jonathan POV
I could only watch in helplessness as the chopper flew out of view, unintelligible voices coming through my radio as it flew further and further away. "See human? Even to your own comrades you are simply expendable garbage." I whipped around to see myself completely surrounded by FIA soldiers. "Why you-" I was cut short by a sharp pain to the back of my head, and I fell forward. Everything faded to black...
