I had an insanely painful and obvious bruise and a swollen eye. Michael punched me hard on the right side of my face, he didn't want to. I told him that he needed to make it believable.

"You look pathetic." Calum calls to me as I walk past him.

I ignore him, staring at the dirty floor. It was beige tiles, but there was skid marks and stains all over the ground. We were not a high budget school, really.

I see Ashton and Michael walking together past me, and Michael and I make eye contact. Michael smiles as he swiftly goes past me, bumping my shoulder. It didn't hurt, but my math text book fell from my hands. I bend down to pick it up, and I hear Ashton start laughing.

I guess the system was back to normal. But Michael and I still liked each other, I kind of thought we were dating - though I was not completely sure.

It was the end of the day and I was heading towards the front doors of the school, wanting to go home. I have been excited for it to end.

Michael was going to be coming over a little past three, because that would be when my mother is gone from the house.

She hasn't seen my bruise yet, and I am not sure if I have a good cover up story yet. But I was thinking maybe a baseball, but I was not in gym yet. In a couple weeks we have a vacation then I was going to be switched into one for my last gym credit. So I was still thinking about it.

I walk out the front doors, pulling my iPod and earbuds from my backpack pocket. I put them in and put on All Time Low. Break Your Little Heart blasts into my ears, having my phone on full volume. I liked it like that, though. I cross the front lawn of the school and run across the street quickly. I was now on the sidewalk.

I walked down, mouthing the lyrics and bouncing a little bit to the beat. Music was my escape.

It was warm today, it wasn't usually around this time. I get to my apartment building, though, and go up the stairs. I take out my earbuds and check the time, and saw that it was already ten past three. As I walk up the stairs, I am about to open the door into the hallway when someone bumped into me.

"Watch where the fuck you're going." Someone snaps then I glance at them.

"Michael." I state and he looks up at me as well.

"You aren't even home yet?" He asks and I shrug. I usually am but I was walking slowly, enjoying the music aspect of it all. I was in the building, though... Not home, really. "Well, I was just about to leave. I was knocking on your door for five minutes. How about we go inside then?" He suggests.

"Yeah, sure." I agree, pulling my keys from my backpack. We go into the hallway and towards my apartment, and I unlock the door. I walk inside and Michael follows.

As I close the door Michael just examines me for a second. "I'm sorry about the bruise." He sighs.

"It's fine. Really." I respond.

He just frowns and heads towards the couch. He sits down and looks over to me. I took his hint and go and sit down next to him.

"I don't know... I don't know how you did it." He tells me.

"Do what?" I ask him, confused.

"Make me like you." He replies, looking to the ground.

"It is something you are born with, you know. I didn't do much for you." I say.

He shrugs, and puts his hands on his face and slightly shakes his head. "I can't do this, Luke. I don't want to be gay." He whispers.

"You can either follow what you feel inside right now or feel unhappy later in life, being with a girl and all." I respond, putting my hand gently on his shoulder.
