"How was your day, honey?" Mum asks me when I walk through the door.
"Wonderful." I reply, but I think she knows it was the same as the rest. It was better because Michael talked to me like I was a human being. He didn't call me gay boy and seemed to have any dark motives behind it. I hurry down the hall to my bedroom. I put my bag and down and lay down on my bed.
Then I remember him laughing when I said that I didn't hate myself. It hurts to know that people can treat you like that and never feel remorse about it, but instead going on with it; dragging it along. It is an unrealistic goal to stop bullying in schools because of maturity levels, but I wish that I wasn't on the receiving end.
"Luke, honey, I am heading off to work now!" She tells me.
"Okay Mum, have fun!" I reply, knowing that she won't.
"Totally." She laughs, and I hear the door close. As soon as she leaves, my phone starts ringing. I pick it up and I answer it.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Gay boy, what up? Are you touching yourself thinking of Mikey? You nasty excuse for a person." Calum's slurred voice laughs through the phone.
"I don't like Michael, and I am not gay." I lie about two things.
"Really? Because we sent Mikey over to your flat to make you feel better. You may want to pull up your pants." He says, and hangs up. I look at my phone and press the end button as well. I put my phone down on my bed. He's coming here? How does he know where I live?
I sit on the edge of my bed, waiting for the knock.
--
An hour later, nobody as knocked. "No." I cried, wishing I could be liked by at least one person.
I pulled up my sleeves, looking at my bare arms. Don't do it Luke, it doesn't last forever. I look to the bathroom. Do it Luke, come on. Nobody will ever like you. Get your pain out.
I started having a debate with myself to see if I should try it. Try to cut.
I get up off the bed and start walking towards the bathroom, when a knock startles me.
My eyes widen as I wipe the tears from underneath my eyes. I pull down my sleeves and run to the door. I am met with something burning being thrown at me. I scream, as the hot liquid goes down my shirt. I am shaking as I look to say who it was. Calum, Ashton, Xavier, Berry, and... Michael.
They all laugh at me. "Here he is." Xavier laughs.
I slam the door shut and lock it. I cry, my breathing starting to become heavier. I start walking to the bathroom. I don't know what I did to be so hated. I turn on the shower and start undressing.
I look at the razors that were located on a shelf in the bathroom. I decide against it, getting under the water stream.
*Michael's Point of View*
Calum hangs up the phone, as we all release the laughter we had been holding in. "We need to do something when we get there."
"I got an idea." I tell them, smiling.
"What?" Berry asks.
"We get a coffee. One of us throws it at him when he opens the door." I say.
They smile along with me, nodding at the idea. "Isn't it supposed to be cold water that stops a boner?" Calum laughs.
"He is disgusting." I say. I would never like someone of the same sex, who does that? I have never dated because most girls disgust me at their provocative attempts at dating me or sleeping with me.
So maybe that is why he likes me.
Ashton pulls the car over into a gas station.
"I'll get it." I tell them, hopping out of the car. I go inside, and walk straight over to the coffee.
I get the soft drink Styrofoam cup and fill the entire thing with coffee. It was 32 ounces.
I get the plain coffee, anything else is pointless. I go up to the counter, pulling a couple bucks out of my pocket. I look up and see someone familiar. "You look familiar." I tell her.
"Are you in your final year of high school?" She asks me.
"Yeah." I reply.
"My son is too. Not sure, maybe you've seen a couple pictures. We also look a bit alike." She responds, taking the money from my hand and giving me my change.
I ask, "Who's your son?"
"Luke Hemmings." She responds, smiling.
I look at her, dropping my change and walking quickly out of the store. I get into the car. "Dude what's wrong?" Ashton asks.
I start laughing and respond, "That woman in there? Luke's mommy."
A couple of them chuckle. "Maybe that is why he is poor." Calum concludes.
We keep driving to his flat, not another word spoken. I kept the coffee firmly in my hand, trying not to spill any.
We pull into the small lot and park. We all file out of the car, and we go into the building. "Second floor, apartment 11." Calum says, looking at a piece of paper.
I go into the building first and run up the stairs, immediately being met with door 11.
"Calum, want to do the honors?" I ask him, reminding myself of the bet.
He nods, grabbing the cup from my hand. He knocks on the door, and we hear someone running. Eager, eh? He opens the door and Calum throws the coffee. We hear a small gasp and he is shaking. He looks up, wiping some from his eyes. He sees us all standing there, his eyes fixated on mine for a couple moments. He slams the door and we hear it lock.
"Aw, poor baby." I say, as we keep laughing at gay boy.
