*Third Person Point of View*

"So, Calum and I have a bet to propose." Ashton says, as the three of them sat down in the bar seats.

"And that is?" Michael asked, taking a bite of his pizza.

Calum and Ashton smiled at each other before Calum says, "You know how you and Luke have been together for like, 4 years now?"

"Don't remind me." Michael laughed, thinking back on how it could have been that long.

"We bet, or actually we heavily suggest, you asking him to marry you." Ashton smiled. The three boys never truly grew apart. They did for a time, but now they were the same as they were in high school.

Calum and Rebecca got married. Surprisingly. When they both were 19. And now they have one daughter, one that they named Carrie. Only because Rebecca loved this American author - Stephen King.

She was only one but she was beautiful.

"Why do I need to get married?" Michael groaned, placing his head in his arms.

"Because, it is something you do when you love a person." Calum sung.

"Hey Lukey, remember when you came to my dorm? And you asked me all these questions?" Michael asked Luke one week later. A small box in his back pocket.

They were doing what they did every Friday night. They watched a movie and enjoyed a homemade dinner together. It was a tradition that both of them secretly loved but never expressed how much they did to their significant other. "Don't remind me." Luke mumbled, watching the screen.

Michael picked up the remote and shut the television off. "I remember you said something to me. You asked me if it was a joke when I made you fall for me." Michael begun his slightly planned out speech.

"And at the time, the line meant nothing. But now, it began as a joke. Being truthful." Michael continued, cringing at his own horribly planned speech.

"Why are you saying this?" Luke asked. He was internally worried that Michael was planning to break up with him. And Luke wasn't ready to lose his boyfriend.

Michael stood up from the couch they were sitting on. "Because you made me fall for you too. I am glad that I took that bet. I am glad that I sat down with you that one day in the cafeteria. I never thought I could feel love, but that was just because I wasn't supposed to be with anybody else besides you. Maybe that was why I was so fixated on you. Because I love you Luke." Michael continued.

His thoughts raced. "I fell for you. You liked me despite me being an asshole. You liked me even though I asked you out for money. You liked me even though I wasn't very smart and you were. And all those factors, how different we were... I think this is right. And I want to be with you and continue to do this." Michael prepared for his final line.

"I fell for you. And I have continued to fall for you everyday since. Now I want to fall for you everyday for the rest of my life. Luke Robert Hemmings, will you marry me?" Michael smiled. He pulled out the small black box and opened it up. It was a plain silver ring.

There were small letters printed on the inside. "Yes." Luke smiled, tears falling from his eyes. Michael slid the ring on.

Luke noticed the words about a month later. They read, 'I still fall for you everyday. xx - Michael'

They were small and almost took up the entire diameter of the ring. But when Luke noticed them, it made him smile. There was something special about those words. Something special about their fucked up past.

And at their wedding Michael made the same promise he engraved on the ring. And he carried through with this promise years later. They may have not had the steadiest beginning. It was twisted and horrible, but everything began somewhere. So it was just their story. They were not ashamed to tell it.

And in the end of it all, for 67 years, Michael fell for Luke, every single day. The words may have faded off the ring, and 64 years after the proposal Luke died of natural causes. But Michael visited his grave everyday, telling stories of his daily adventures. And even thought Luke wasn't there, Michael still found room to love him more. A memory would give him more hope. Pictures would bring back the love he felt.

Even when Michael was in his death bed, surrounded by his three adopted kids, he held Luke's engagement ring in his hand. And when he was alone at night, the words he would say before he slept would be the last words he would have ever spoken. "I still fall for you everyday." Michael would say. He knew Luke could hear him, from wherever he was. Love seemed so far for Michael at one time in his life, but soon it had become the only emotion he was accustomed to feeling.
