The boys were up bright and early. Putting their bags into an uber’s trunk. Corey sat in the front passenger seat. Jake, Sam, and Colby sat in the back.

“To the airport, correct?” The uber driver asks.

“Yes sir.” Sam replies. The uber driver nods and drives to the airport. Eventually they were dropped off at the airport. They head inside to check in. When 9:20am rolls, their flight is called. They hurry to the gate to board. They all get settled into their seats, Sam and Colby next to one another and Jake and Corey together. The plane takes off and begins heading to Portland, Oregon. Two hours later, the plane lands in Portland. The group hurries off of the plane to gather their bags. Sam calls a family member to pick them up. Shortly, about 11:30 am his uncle arrives. They meet outside. Sam gives his uncle a hug.

“Uncle Jim, this is Corey and Jake.” Sam points to Jake and Corey. “And you know Colby, my boyfriend.” Sam smiles.

“Nice to meet y’all.” Uncle Jim shakes all three boys' hands. They give a small smile. They load up into Jim’s truck. “Where to, son?” He asks.

“To the car rental place.” Sam’s voice almost mocked his uncle’s southern drawl.

“Alright. Ah I hear your true drawl coming back.” Jim pokes fun. Sam only laughs. “So why are you up here?” He asks.

“Oh we are going camping at Fort Stevens.” Sam replies.

“You know that place is very haunted.”

“Yes, that’s the reason we are going.”

“Should I look the history up?” Corey asks from the backseat.

“Yeah you can, while we have service.” Sam answers. They are soon saying goodbye, and checking in at the rental. They load up into a jeep. Sam in the driver seat, Colby in the passenger, Jake and Corey in the back.

“Don’t you need a gps?” Colby asks.

“Just pull the trip up and screenshot it, there will be no service.” Sam shrugs. Colby looks surprised, but shrugs it off. They drive off, following the directions on the screen. They stop at a store to get food and fire things. They soon head off for the two hour drive. The trip passes quickly, and soon they find themselves at the campsite. They get out and start setting up camp. They soon have a campfire going and everyone is settled in for the night.

Sam sets up the camera and turns it on.

“What’s up guys it’s Sam and Colby! With Corey and Jake.”  Colby shouts. “So, Sam, since this was your idea, where are we?”

“We are at Fort Stevens in Hammond Oregon. We are actually fixing to go and check out this old military base.” Sam smiles.

“Alright the history of this place: It was built during the civil war, which was in use until 1947. Battery Russel, a section in this building, is a paranormal hotspot- cold spots, unusual noises and seeing spirits.” Corey starts.

“Two of the ghosts are military men, one carrying a flashlight and the other a young man in battle gear with a large knife.” Sam jumps in. “Back in 2008, Rockland Stephens kidnapped his son, Shane Davis, and fled from St Helens to this base. When the police found the two, it was too late. The police report says Rockland ran a hose from his exhaust pipe into the van. A note was found that pointed to a murder-suicide” Sam adds.

“Oh my god.” Jake’s eyes go wide. They all look at each other in shock, and take a moment to process the information.

After a few moments, Sam stands up and says, "Let's go explore this place and see what we can find out." The four of them get up and head off into the darkness. They enter the building, looking around.
