I woke up, noticing my lover wasn’t in bed. I don’t think much of it, since he is up early most of the time. I quickly get out of bed and follow the sound of running water to the bathroom. I find him standing in front of the sink, his hands cupping his face as he stares into the mirror. I move behind him and wrap my arms around his waist, resting my head on his back.
“Good Morning doll.” I nuzzle my face into his neck. He turns around and smiles at me, his eyes twinkling with love.
“Good Morning baby.” Sam turns off the water and damply dries his face off.
“Why are you up so early?” I ask as Sam turns around in my arms.
“A dream I had that woke me.” Sam's eyes searches my body.
“What dream, Babe?” I tilt my head.
“I had a dream that I went home.” Sam says leaning against the counter.
“Home? Kansas?” I ask. He shakes his head, and moves away from me. I follow him into the closest. “Babe?”
“Mm..oh, home-” He pauses, “my home state.”
“It’s not Kansas?” I tilt my head.
“No, well kinda, but-” He pauses again, “ay fuck.” A new accent coats that last bit.
“What?”
“My arm.” He motions to his wrapped arm. “It hurts.” I noticed his accent change.
“Sammy, home state?” I tilt my head.
“Oh yeah-Uh, mississippi.” A southern drawl begins coating his words.
“Oh, so you're a southern boy, truly.” I lean against the door frame.
“Sure am.” I smile at his accent. “I just happened to master a midwest accent and used it when I moved to Kansas.”
“Do you want to go back?” I ask.
“Yeah I do..just for a few days.” Sam slightly smiles.
“Can I come?” I reach and grab his waist. I pull him closer to me.
“Sure.” He smiles up at me. “We should pack now, since it's 5:30am.”
“Wait, are you planning on driving?” I am shocked.
“Yes, all the way to my hometown.” He kisses my chin. “It's only a two day drive, including stops.” He steps away and begins to get dressed.
“Actually? You’ve timed this?” I ask, getting dressed as well.
“Yes darling. I’ve made this drive before.” He says. He grabs his duffle bag, starting to pack some clothes. I do the same, still baffled.
“So, what are we going in?” I ask. He laughs.
“My truck. I plan on off-roading and taking back roads.” His drawl thickens.
“Oh, will it last?” I ask.
“Last? Baby, remember that bad fight we had two years ago?” He tilts his head.
“Yeah..” I ask, confusion on my face.
“When I left, I took my truck. All the way from LA to Union.” Sam says walking out to the room. I quickly hurry to follow him.
“So that's where you went.” I stood shocked, watching Sam slip on his leather boots.
“Yes babe.” Sam answers, packing other essentials. ‘Damn, those jeans.’
“Mm, baby, why don’t you wear jeans often?” I ask, my eyes trailing down to his ass. Sam only laughs.
