Later on that day...

"Wassup mama" I walked into my mother's house "Hey son, where's my grandbaby"

"With T"

My mother eyebrows rose "It's nothing like that she don't want a relationship right now" I shook my head sitting next to her on the couch

"And let me guess you do?" She asked me looking at me "Hell yeah, we've been together for so long— I'm trynna make her my wife"

"Well express that"

"I already have, she talkin about living in her singleness"

"Is there anything wrong with that?"

"No but she trynna fuck me like I'm some random nigga in the street" I scoffed shaking my head "Well can you blame her son, the last two years has been hard for y'all"

"Yeah I agree but to make a relationship work there's gotta be effort on both sides, every relationship has its downs the only thing that matters is if we can get through that down"

"I don't know mama, I want to be with her but if that's not what she wants then imma move on" I shrugged she shook her head

"No you not"

I chuckled "I'm not but I don't know how long I can wait for her, the same way she held you down you need to do the same— may be a different situation but it's still the same principle"

"Just allow her to fall in love with you again, not love you but fall in love with you" My mother finished, I went silent going into deep thought

The following evening...

"Wassup babygirl" I picked up Riley as she walked into the house "Hi Daddy" She wrapped her arms around my neck 

"You had fun"

"Mhm" She nodded laying her head on my shoulder "Thank you for taking her out and stuff" I grabbed her backpack from T

"No problem you know how much I love her" She smiled looking at Riley, I nodded beginning to close the door

"Wait" She stopped the door "Wassup"

"I'm uh, I'm sorry about yesterday I came at you wrong and I definitely shouldn't have woken you up for that" She apologized I nodded

"It's coo shit happens"

"Bad word daddy"

"I'm sorry" I looked at Riley kissing her cheek, I put my attention back on Tiana she had a small smile on her face

"Your such a natural at this Caine, I admire you so much for it"

"Preciate it T, I really do"

"Well I'll see you guys" T began walking off "Say bye" I told Riley she waved her hand but Tiana couldn't see due to her back being turned towards us I chuckled

"She couldn't see that silly" I teased Riley as I closed and locked the door

"How was hanging out with T?" I asked as I walked to Riley's room to undress her "Good, we went to the movies to see lion king then Chuck E. Cheese"

"Oh really" I asked as I took off her shoes "Mhm"

"And I met her friend!" I frowned looking at her "What friend Auntie Trinity?"

"No silly Jalen!" Riley giggled, I frowned harder becoming upset "Jalen?"

"Mhm, he was nice he bought me a new toy" I continued to keep the frown on my face "This man was with y'all the whole time?" I asked

"I don't know" she shrugged "Whatchu mean you don't know?" I asked Riley as I took off her clothes putting her pajamas on

"He wasn't at the movies, or I don't know" Riley sighed, I kissed her forehead "It's okay" I ended the conversation taking her to the bathroom so she could brush her teeth

It's been a couple days since I've had Riley and it's been the usual me going to work, seeing my parents, working out, and repeat

I just got back home from the gym, I hopped in the shower washing my body after 15 minutes I stepped out the shower putting my robe on I heard knocks come through my front door

I walked over to my door looking through the peep hole seeing Caine

I backed away from the door opening it, "Hey what are you doing here" I chuckled leaning on the doorframe

"I just got one question Tiana"

"Yeah" I frowned looking up at Caine "Did you have a nigga around my daughter?"

My eyes went wide before I shook my head "No, I would never" I shook my head "Cuh my daughter wouldn't just lie about something like that"

I thought hard trying to think who was possibly around Riley while I had her "Oh, Jalen! We ran into him while me and Riley were in target he's one of the athletes I work on"

Caine looked at me trying to see if I was lying or not "He was being nice and bought her a toy" I further explained "Then after that we parted our ways"

"I promise Caine, I would never do something like that unless you knew about it and approved" I held my hands up, Caine kept a hard look on his face before he sighed silently nodding

"Alright cool, preciate you for clarifying" Caine began walking away he stopped mid stride, his back facing me I frowned he turned back around walking back over to me kissing me passionately I was a little surprised by the kiss but I reluctantly kissed him back

Caine broke the kiss resting his forehead on top of mine "T"

"Hmm"

"I just need you to answer one question"

"Yes"

"Do you love me?"

"Trinity, the man asked me if I loved him!"

"Well do you?" Trinity asked as she ate her banana while we were on facetime, I was getting ready to
go over to her house

"Well duh, but that doesn't mean I wanna date him right now"

"So okay if your not ready and he is, if he moves on would you feel some type of way"

I thought about what she said shrugging "No"

"Tiana" Trinity dead faced me "Forreal hoe" I sighed rolling my eyes "Maybe, I don't know Trinity"

"But I just know if we were to ever try us again we need to go to therapy cause we've said some shit to each other that hurt each other deeply"

"Well express that to him and come up with a solution, don't just say I don't want to date him because you want to stay single which is fine but don't make the decision knowing you are going to regret how the future may play out"

"You're right"

"I know" Trinity smiled shrugging I rolled my eyes shaking my head "I'll call him sometime this week or something"

"Whatever just hurry up and get over here so we can start sippin"

"Shut up hoe, I'll be there in 20"
