Chapter 40

I woke up with my mate in my arms all snuggled up close to me. 'Our mate.' My wolf corrects me. Yes our mate.

"Morning." She mumbles as she opens her eyes. She is so beautiful.

"Morning beautiful." I whisper softly to her as I look down into her bright green eyes.

"This is probably the best morning ever. All it needs is waffles." She says with a smirk.

"I know, with whipped cream." I wink at her making her laugh.

"You are such a perv." She giggles. She gets up and puts on a pair of my shorts before heading down stairs to the kitchen. I of course follow close behind. 'Our mate does look good in our clothes.' My wolf growls with satisfaction. Yes she does.

"Good morning Carter." Candace smiles at her as she puts on the bacon on the stove.

"Morning Candi. What's for breakfast?" Carter asks as she sits on the counter next to the sink.

"Waffles and bacon." She smiles at her.

"You know me so welL." Carter laughs.

"Well she knows me well actually." I tell my mate.

"Oh so we have the same taste in food?" Carter asks me with a raised brow.

"Yes we do. Are you hungry?" I ask her as I grab a cup from the cupboard next to her.

"Hungry like the wolf." She sings. Wow, she does have a sense of humor.

"Nice pun." Becky walks in. "So who was the cutie with the white hair?" She asks Carter before grabbing a coffee cup from the cupboard.

"Ramsey? He's my guardian." She tells my sister as she poors her coffee.

"How old is he?" Becky asks before taking a sip.

"Well, I..." She starts.

"Breakfast is ready!" Candace interrupts.

"Oh yummy." Carter jumps off the counter and grabs a plate. "I'm on the hunt I'm after you." She continues to sing.

"How much of that song do you know?" I ask as I grab a plate for myself. She loads her up with 3 waffles and 5 pieces of bacon. First transformation will do that to you.

"I know most of the song, I like Duran Duran." She defends herself before sitting at the table.

"You are right there is nothing wrong with that." I agree as I sit next to her.

"Juice is like wine." She sings before drinking the glass of Orange juice that I poured for her.

"You know that you are amazing." I tell her as I watch her devour her waffles. 'Our mate has an appetite.' My wolf grins. You are such a perv, I swear.

Suddenly Luke bursts through the doors with Tina and Juniper behind him. They all pants but trying to say something. "Shut up!" Carter yells at them. "Now Luke tell me what's up." She takes control of the situation. 'A true alphas mate.' My wolf says proudly.

"Vampires." Luke says breathlessly, but it was all he had to say. Why are there vampires in our territory and what do they want? I look over at Carter and see panic in her eyes. Her? Well they can't have my mate. They might try but I will protect her, she is mine and mine alone.
