Need You

Marina was soon discharged from the hospital and Yannick took good care of her at home. 

Marina felt like a spoiled and pampered princess. Yannick took over all the household chores not allowing Marina to touch a dirty dish or pick up a dusty sock. She enjoyed it for a while but after almost 2 weeks of not being able to do anything because of the overprotective Frenchie, she was starting to get sick of it. 

Marina felt stifled with his large frame looming over her whenever she'd get up from the bed or the sofa to grab a drink or relieve herself. She couldn't even go to the veranda without Yannick panicking. 

She was starting to feel pissy with Dada but was trying her best to contain it because she knew he meant well. She chalked it up to boredom after being under house arrest for almost 2 weeks.

"Dada, do you have anything on your schedule today?" she asked Yannick who was on the couch working on his laptop. 

"Just some emails to set up appointments Mon Amour, why?" he looked up at her observing her V-shaped face. Almost all the bruises are gone now save for the one on her cheekbone but nothing that can't be hidden by makeup.

"I wanted to try the croissant with the cookie dough inside," she said showing him her phone.

It was one of the trending cafes that got featured in a blog recently. Yannick grimaced thinking of the sugar level. An American must have invented that he mused.

"Go ahead and dress up, just give me 10 minutes to answer these last three emails," he told her patting her bottom before turning his attention back to his laptop.

Marina padded happily back to their room.

Marina has just finished preparing and she took a mirror selfie to send to Eva. 

Among all her friends and family, it was only Eva and her sister who knew of the assault. They were getting testy when Marina refused to turn on her camera during their video calls and after several times of giving lame excuses she had to show them her face or else... 

Imagine their horror when they saw her face. They immediately jumped to the conclusion that LGD had done those things to Marina and they threatened to call the police on him. It took a while for Marina to calm them down. She made them swear that they wouldn't tell anyone especially her mama who would probably fly up to France and stuff her inside a balikbayan box to bring her back home to the Philippines.

She sent the photo to Eva who immediately saw the pic and gave a heart react to it.

"It's nice to see you back to normal dear," Eva said in her chat with the kissing emoji.

And indeed, Marina felt that she did look almost back to normal now.

She felt the back of her head where she received stitches.

Thanks to Kam's boyfriend, Christophe who is one of the best wig makers in Paris, the bald spot is not noticeable at all. He gave her a custom-made clip-on wig that blended in perfectly with his hair. It's a temporary solution while growing out the hair on his bald spot. She did not want to shave all her hair since she already looked ugly with the purple bruises, the nasty black eye, and the busted lip. She did not want to add salt to the wound. 

She took one last look in the mirror before making her way back to the living room. 

Dada was sitting on the sofa ready to go. He stood up upon seeing Marina. He smiled at her and helped her with her coat. They were matchy matchy. They were both wearing a soft charcoal black coat lined with cashmere cinched at the waist with a belt that they both tied to a knot. Yannick was the one who bought them the coats as an anniversary gift but he did not tell her that they were originally marketed for fathers and sons.
