Lena's POV
"Mrs. Foster..." Sam says as he walks the blond woman out of the examination room.
"It's miss." She cuts off. I guess that's her thing.
"Miss Foster... I hope I'll see you in two weeks. It was nice meeting you. Take care and rest for a few days." he says to her, shaking her hand.
"Thank you doctor. Nice meeting you as well." she says quite politely for change.
I swear the woman seems to be a hard nut to crack. She seems so rough, yet... I don't know there's like a softness about her as she touches her belly so gently.
"Lena... I guess I'll see you around." He says giving me a look that means that I must tell him what happened with... well with miss Foster after we get out of the hospital.
"Sure. It was nice seeing you Sam. Have a good day." I say nodding at him, indicating that I got the assignment before he walks away.
Sam and I met in medical school when I was searching for myself. I did four years and then I redirect myself to something that was fitting me better. But Sam and I remained good friend, and we do meet in conferences and just for a drink from time to time.
"So...are you and the baby okay?" I say as the silence was growing between me and the blond woman.
"Yeah, even after you drove over us, we're okay." she says as I gasp at the term.
"Oh my God... alright, whatever. Just tell me where you live; I'll drive you." I say, sighing and frustrated as hell because the woman has nerves.
When I was waiting for her, I had time to think about what happened, about how it happened, and it was clearly her fault. She literally ran to cross the street while I was already engaged to cross the crosswalk. My guess is, she didn't even look before crossing the street.
I still feel bad because it was my car that hit her, but damn, she has nerves.
"No, thank you. I can walk myself home just fine." She says as I widen my eyes.
"You think I'm letting you WALK home? ALONE? He just told you to rest. No! No way!" I say very categorically.
"And what? You're going to force me?" she says as I glare just as hard at her for, she's stubborn, boy is she ever.
"I'll drive next to you walking until you reach your home anyway. So you might as well get it the damn car." I say, knowing fully well that now there's no way I can get to my presentation, unfortunately, but hey... this was more important, I think.
"Fine!" she says, more annoyed than anything as I sigh my frustration once again.
So we walked to my car in a complete silence and we get in. I started the car, wondering if she was going to tell me where she lives already.
"So... where should I go?" I ask, trying to be as nice as possible no matter how rude and annoying she is.
"Go left. I'll tell you where to turn after." She says, as she's looking everywhere but at me now, and I was wondering why.
"Okay..." I say quietly.
As I was driving, the more she was indicating me the road, the more I was worried about where we were going to end up. It seems like we are heading to a nasty part of the city as the landscape has changed, there are now only old buildings and shantytowns ready to fall to the ground at the slightest gust of wind.
In the meantime, it was bothering me immensely that I didn't know her name. However, I didn't want to ask her as if I was interested because she'll probably just blow me off.
