THEODORE

My eyes slowly opened as the sun peeked through the white curtains.

I loved waking up with the natural light, with the first rays of the sun. I guess I have overslept this morning. By a lot.

My nose scrunched as I placed my free hand over my face. It was not raining today.

Soft warm breaths fanned my neck and I just realised the heartbeat under my palm. My other hand was resting on someone's chest.

More correctly on my wife's chest. Her heart beat was even and showed how gone in her sleep she was. Her face was close to my neck and I turned my head to the side slowly.

I looked down at her and felt my own heartbeat speed up, not mirroring hers anymore.

Her dark lashes were fanning her cheeks and her lips were slightly parted. There was a beauty mark under her left eye and I restrained myself from running my fingers over every curve on her face.

Almost invisible freckles were scattered over her nose, making her look even more breathtaking.

Astoria's beauty was outwardly.

From the moment she walked down the aisle, I knew I was never going to be able to take my eyes off of her. The way she smiled was enough for my chest to beam with happiness.

There were two adorable dimples on her cheeks wherever she grinned and dust of blush covered her face every time her gaze connected to mine.

I don't even know how I got this lucky.

Did I save a country in my previous life that I'm getting someone like Astoria in this one?

Her fingers tighten around my hand that was pressed against her.

I leaned slightly forward and placed my lips on her forehead. I let them linger on her skin for a few seconds, trying to imprint this moment in my mind.

I was glad she was still asleep because that meant that I had some time to observe her features. I brought my hand to her face and ran my finger over her cheek and her perfectly shaped eyebrows.

She scrunched her nose and buried her face further into my neck.

A small smile reached my lips and I closed my eyes for a second.

She has been with me the whole time yesterday. She didn't leave my side at all. And I didn't fail to notice her demeanour change when she saw the nurse help me with the pillows.

My pretty little wife looked jealous. As if that didn't even make me like her even more.

The way she tried to play it off showed that she indeed was jealous over Madison.

Her body stirred and she let out a small sigh. I felt her eyes open as her lashes brushed the skin on my neck.

She stretched her legs and pulled the covers slightly down.
