THEODORE

I watched as Astoria waltzed around the kitchen. She was making us drinks. We agreed to play a round of chess because she said that she was confident that she was finally able to beat me.

It filled me with so much joy that she put so much effort into learning the hobbies that I loved and also made so much progress with sign language.

She was even better than me at signing now.

I had to ask her what some of the things meant. I still have no idea how I got blessed to have such an amazing and smart wife.

Despite working hard, she put all of her energy into making our marriage work as well.

I don't think I would have made so much with the physiotherapy if it was not for her. She gave me a will to make my life better. She gave me will to live and not just survive.

"Fifi visited this morning but she just meowed and ran away when I tried to pat her." Tori walked over to me with the drinks in her hands.

She was dressed in a black simple stretchy dress that had long sleeves and it reached mid thigh. Her hair was in a messy bun and her face was bare of any makeup.

She sat opposite me and placed the drink in front of me.

The chess set she gifted me for my birthday was set in the middle of the dining table. It was made of marble and instead of the usual black colour, this one had emerald pieces. The figures were beautifully crafted and there were golden lines on the white ones.

She knew that I collected chess sets and this one might be my favourite one.

"Fifi?" I questioned.

"The cat I told you about. I'm so sad she doesn't really visit me anymore." Her bottom lip jutted out and she rested her head on her hand.

"We can adopt a cat of you want. Marcus has a friend who rescued little kittens and puppies." Her eyes widened.

"Wait really? You wouldn't mind?" She grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Of course not."

"For some reason I thought you didn't like animals in the house."

"I love animals I just never had a pet because I was scared that I wasn't able to take care of it properly." Marcus did encourage me to adopt a puppy, that's when he told me about his friend.
