Onika POV

"Bestieeeeeeeeee how you like it out there?"
Lauren asked smiling goofily while she does her make up. Her boyfriend was taking her on a date. Must be nice....

It's ok, I miss home." I pouted.

Awwww Nika babes you need to go out and explore."

Girl it's too damn hot and it's only April." I whined.

Damn haha. You working yet?"

"Naw I filled out a few applications got an interview a local supermarket on Monday."

Oh that's good Nika, what about school."

Oh TSU got a nursing program, but that starts in July so as long as I get this job I'll be good." I prop my phone up sipping my water.

Look at my bestie, I'm so proud of you, I know mommy is." She calls my mom mommy and I call her pops dad.

Yea she is, she been working since we got here. At the big hospital in the city as the head administrators of nurses, mommy getting the coins."

Hoe I can tell by that house, can't wait to come down there.

We continued to talk until she was ready and Nip was outside for her. We hung up and I looked at the time seeing it was 5pm. I know mommy will be on by seven so I went into the kitchen making a lasagna, fresh garlic bread and a garden salad. By the time it was done I heard the alarm system announcing the front door was opening and my mom was walking through the house.

Hey baby, dinner smells great." She came in the kitchen kissing my cheek, before going up to her room.

I went and set the table pouring mom a glass of red wine , setting our food down. I took a seat waiting for mom to come down. This month all in all has been a good one. This fresh start was something a really needed. I just wish daddy was here. I sighed taking a sip of my tea before heating my mom come down the steps.

Thank you nika this looks really good."

You're welcome mommy." I smiled.

We had small talk over dinner. When we was done I grabbed the brownies I made and we had them watching the Chi, in the den area. I wanted my head against her shoulder snuggling into her. This is how we spent our weekend.

Monday
10am

"When can you start?"

Today if that's possible." I reply to the store manager.

Great. As far as I'm concerned you have the job just gotta wait for your background check to come back."

"Ok great thank you so much." I shook the older woman's hand whose name I learned was sam.

She walked me out after promising to be in contact. I got in my car headed to the nearest mall to grab some work pants. They wanted us in black or khaki pants, while they provided the shirts for all seasons. Once I got to the mall I parked grabbed my wallet and phone putting my keys in my jacket pocket, heading in.

I went into marshals and went straight to my section finding two black pants and a pair of khaki joggers in my size. I went towards the checkout with my face in my phone and a little body hit into me. I looked down and couldn't help but smile.

I sowwy." Her little voice squeaked. Before I could respond I heard

IVYYYY STOP RUNNING OFF!" And the little girl tan off to her mom.

I headed to the register putting my phone away so I didn't run into anyone. The cashier rang me up. I paid and headed out the door and out of the mall. I got into my car starting it playing Kiana lede Album starting with Promise Me. I start to drive singing along as I head home.
