RWBY: Child of Shadows

The Emerald Forest

I open my eyes to a new day here at Beacon, I sit up with almost no one awake, I slide out and stand grabbing sleeping bag, and rolling it up, I grab the rest of my stuff and head to the locker room, I go to the locker 473 grabbing my weapon, I step outside and find an empty spot and spit my bow into its swords, I use my semblance to create moving targets, My semblance is shadow manipulation, which means that I can create things out of shadows as well as transparent things through them to, I create   small grime targets and begin the attack, I swing my swords and jump around spin,

After a while I see people start to flood towards the lockers, I make the shadow targets disperse and walk back to the lockers, I can see a lot of people grabbing their weapons and heading to Beacon Cliff, I then here the intercom turn on, glynda is on the speaker,

Glynda, "Would all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately, again would all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately," the intercom turns off,

I walk out to the Cliff along with all of the other students, we stand on platforms with the Beacon Crest engraved on them, Ozpin and Glynda are standing in front of us,

Ozpin, "For years you have trained to become warriors, and today your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest,"

Glynda, "Now I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of "teams," Well allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be giving teammates... Today,"

Ruby, "What, ooooh,"

Ozpin, "these teammates will be with you from the rest of your time here at Beacon, so it in your best interest to be paired with someone you can work well,*Ruby groans* That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for then next four years,"

Ruby, "WHAT,"

Pink girl, "See? I told you-,"

Ozpin, "After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest, you will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path or you will die,"

Jaune, "hehe, *Gulps*"

Ozpin, "You will be monitored and graded through out the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene, you will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. You will guard that item as well as your standing, you will be graded appropriately, are there any questions,"

Jaune, "Ah sir..."

Ozpin, "Good! Take your positions," I stand with my weight forward,

Jaune, "Ah sir, I-I've got a question,"

I launch into he air, tucking my wings in and what to start falling, I look around for a place to land, I see people land on trees going through trees and spinning around them to land, I weave through the trees with my wings and just before hitting the ground I use my wings to pull up sharply then land on my feet, I brush my cloths off of the dust and leaves then start walking, I continue on through the forest weapon ready for anything, I hear a branch snap and leaves crunching a little bit behind me, I stop and turn around bow drawn, arrow ready, The noise continues to come closer, I wait my breathe steady, "Oow," I head someone say from the direction of the noise, I bring my bow down and put the arrow back as the person comes out of the bushes, he was a human boy with Dark short hair and  blackish grey eyes,

Boy, "Hello," he says very awkwardly,

Me, "Hello," I reply awkwardly, "So what is your name,"

Boy, "I'm Nolan, Nolan Thorne, and you,"

Me, "I'm Kalishtar Onyx, but you can call me Kal. Should we get going, I think I could see something when I was in the air earlier,"

Nolan, "Alright, yeah I'll follow you,"

Me, "Alright," we start walking through the forest, we continue in silence for a bit, Then I ask, "Hey what are all the things that you can do,"

Nolan, "Oh uh, well my semblance is gravity manipulation but I can't control it at all, any time I try and use it it backfires and instead of making things float they get crushed, and vise versa, but uh what can you do,"

Me, "I can manipulate shadows, but everyone is scared of it,"

Nolan, "I don't think that it's scary, I actually think it's really cool, so what all can you do with it,"

Me, "Oh I can travel through shadows and make things out of shadows, as well as transporting things, and people I think, though I haven't tried,"

Nolan, "Well we have nothing but time, so why don't we try it,"

Me, "Really you want to try it,"

Nolan, "Yeah let's do it,"

Me, "Alright but I have no Idea what will happen," I walk over to a tree's shadow and stand in it I test whether or not I can travel through it, I focus and open my eyes to see the forest in blacks Greys and whites, with Nolan looking around for me, I can hear him,

Nolan, "Wow, hey it worked but where did you go," I walk over to him, I tap him on the shoulder but my hand travels through him in a cloud of shadows, "what the, I can't effect the world in here," I considerate again and open my eyes to see the back to how it was, full of color, I see Nolan wondering then turn to me and runs over,

Nolan, "Dude it worked you vanished and then came back, can you try it on me now,"

Me, "Alright but I think I have to be touching you, in order to bring you with me,"

Nolan, "Alright let's go,"

We walk over to a shadow and I place my hand on his shoulder, I considerate and I open my eyes back in the black and white setting,

Nolan, "WOOOOW, this is so cool, are we able to effect the world,"

Me, "I don't think so, when I touches you my had went through you like a cloud of shadows, but items in here we might, be able to," I walk over to a tree and break a branch," I walk over to Nolan and place my hand on him and we come back to the world, the branch wasn't broken, "So I was right, the things in there have no effect on here, I wonder," I place my hand back on Nolan, and we go to the shadows, "I am going to be right back and see if you can see me when I go back, so don't move,"

Nolan, "Um ok," I go back and as I get back a giant Ursa, jumps out of a bush, I quickly try and jump out of the way but it swings and sends me flying into a tree, I quickly try and go into the shadows, but the grime runs at me and jumps over the top of me, I quickly go into the shadows, I land next to Nolan, and he turns,

Nolan, "Are you ok, What happened,"

Me, "A grime attacked me right as I left, and by the stuff you said you where no table to see anything,"

Nolan, "No I didn't see anything,"

Me, "So you don't see the giant Ursa right there," He looks,

Nolan, "No I don't see anything,"

Me, "Ok, well at least I can see it and we can travel like this will no monsters, getting in our way," I stand and breathe, my chest hurts but it's bearable, we start walking through the forest,
