Ghoulish Gourmet's chapter 3
Wilbie sat under a tree in his backyard shading himself form the sun, reading to himself a horror comic as usual, under the title, mutated squirrels from mars,, he was kindly humming to him self as he read along, " ha. if the military thinks they have a chance against those squirrels, they have another thing coming. " he said to himself with a chuckle, he then looked up as he suddenly he got the feeling that he was being watched, he slowly lowered his comic which revealed phantasma staring right in his face
" Hey ! " she said rather excitedly
wilbie being a bit startled by this let out a small shriek, but soon relaxed. he then looked around to see all the others were there gathered around him.
" oh, uh, hey girls when did you get here ? " he said placing his comic down,
" just now." Sibella said with a slight chuckle
" yeah, we were just stopping by if you'd like to head into town with us, we are going to run a few errands like getting some grocery's ." phantasma said,
wilbie smiled. " to town huh, sure I'd like to, " he said getting up" also sorry about yesterday, I was in a hurry and all, " he said rubbing the back of his neck,
they said it was no big deal. as they soon all made there way into town, However as they did, everyone gave each other a quick glance, knowing that he was indeed keeping something from him, and by the end of this day they were going to find out what.
so as they wen about the day going through town to pick up things they needed for the school. they stopped in the town square park for a quick break, they sat at one of the picnic tables. were they decided to but one of there foods to the test.
" Boy. I sure can use a bite to eat. " phantasma said in a rather, forced manner to which all the others notice. even wilbie who looked a little confused but not too concerned
she then pulled up a sandwich, " oh looke here, A spider Egg sandwich. how tasty " she said looking at the food with a pleasing expression. she then proceeded to take a bite of her sandwich. to which of course wen right through her, " oh my, this is better then I thought." she said taking another bite,
" Hey phantasma may I try a bite, it looks so good " winnie said while glancing over at wilbie, who just had a slightly befuddled look.
" why sure winnie, I would love for you to have some of my sandwich, but no need to take a bit of mine, I have one made for you too, " she said reaching down and taking out another, handing it to the werewolf,
" thank you phanty this will be really tasty I bet, " she siad before taking one big chomp into the sandwich, and began smacking and gnawing on it,
wilbie just raised an eyebrow but chuckled a little , he enjoyed how winnie always ate her food with very few bites, but those two were talking a little odd that he couldn't help notice it,
" oh dear, I have one more sandwich left " phantasma said pulling up another, ". though I am full from just this one, what ever will I do, I know, I have a friends I can give it too, but who ever of you will take it, " phantasma said in a rather blunt tone, one that made some of others even face palm...
" uh, sorry,I'm on Bat diet at the moment, " sibella said,
" gee that's to bad, cause it's really tasty, " she said daringly the sandwich in front of her friends." she then gave the a wink, she then looked over at wilbie,
" How about you, would you like to have some of this terrific sandwich " she said practically putting it in his face, however wilbie recoiled a bit as he saw what looked like baby spiders crawling in and out from the bread slices.
his winced a little . " uh, I think it's. uh, well, Hey Look is that a new comic sale ? " sale he said pointing over towards the comic shop. he then got up to go and check it out,
the ghoul girls however just exchanged glances once again
later.
As the gang was walking through town and making there way back to the school, they decided to play another test on wilbie, this time a beverage based one, when they were ready winnie stopped and challenged wilbie to a race to the school sense they were not to far from it now,
" hey wilbs, I bet you can't beat me to the school from here, " she said baring her claws. and a toothy grin,
wilbie just laughed, " really now, what makes you think I could...sense you beaten me in every you ever challenged me to,, " wilbie said raising an eyebrow.
winnie ten began to think of a reason to get him to accept the challenge " uh, well I was not going easy on you, sense uh..well i was running on all fours those times, this time I'll make it far, " she said with a wink,
wilbie teasingly thouht for a moment, the agreed. "well if you think your up for that," he smirked,
" alright then,,,,,,,last one there is a simple Egg ! " winnie quickly said before playfully punching wilbie on the shoulder and taking off in a mad dash towards the school leaving nothing but a cloud of dust....
wilbie narrowed his eyes and grinned as he quickly attempted to catch up to her...
with the other ghoul girls smirking...
....
after running none stop the whole way back, winnie was the first to run up to the schools front porch, not having broken a sweat once,..and she boasted cause of that,
" alright, look who won, me !! " she said pointing both thumbs claws at herself. she then looked over to see wilbie who was still far behind slowly making his way up to her,
" *pant* alright * pant * you win, * wheeze * " he said out of his breath..." oh my legs..I * pant * can't keep up with that * pant * " he said as he staggeed across the draw bridge and over to were winnie was waiting with a smug look on her face.
" Ah-ooooo !! that was great. still no matter how hard you try, you just can't best me in a race, but you are getting good! " she said slapping him on his back causing him to fall over in exhaustion. she looked down at him to see him sweating heavily...
" gee wilbs. you look a little beat. need a rest ? " she said extending her paw down to help him up. " how about a nice cool drink, ? " she snickered , " cause the girls were planning having some lemonade as soon as they got here, " she grinned,
wilbie looked over at her still nearly out o breath, " lemonade ? sounds wonderful " he said still panting a little
" great, I know you'll love it. it's nice and sour that it will make your hair stand right up, " she she said rubbing her paws together,
" sour ? " he thought? sour did not sound really refreshing to him ?
" it's actually a old family recipe I had learned back at home, . Now you just wait here while I get some ready. " winnie said as she notice the others were approaching the school. she have them all wink the proceeded to head inside,
wilbie then looked back to see the others walk up to the porch were he was,,
" oh, I bet winnie must have gone inside to get us that refreshing lemonade " sibella said nodding to the othere,
" uh yeah that's exactly what she went to do " wilbie said rubbing some of the sweat of his face,
" gee you sure look exhausted " Tanis said.
" which is why he could use a cold glass of lemonade like the rest of us, " phantasma said with a giggle and wink,
wilbie raised an eyebrow but made no comment that,
a moment later winne came out with a trey with six glasses of lemonade on them, and the first thing wilbie could norie was the the lemeonade was a rather murky green colour as appose to a bright lemon yellow,...
winnie have a small howl as she walked out. " alright here you guys go, she said passing around the lemonade,. "she then walked over to wilbie, " I bet your really wanting this now, " she chuckled as she handed him the drink, he simply took and and smiled, but began to examine his beverage
It's ike he said was a more yellowish green and looked rather dirty, almost like a slimy texter to it, all in all it did not look appealing to drink, but he had to be fair, maybe it wouldn't taste so bad, then again, winnie did say it would be sour, and sour was not what he was hoping to help quench his thirst,
" oh this us really refreshing indeed, " sibella said taking a sip of hers. her air standing up a little
" yeah, real tasty wins. " Elsa added. emitting small sparks from her Neck bolts
" ah it's nothing really, just an old family recipe " she nodded,
wilbie could feel sweat begin to form on his forehead again, this time not from being exhausted, but because he knew he was going to have to drink this, and he was not going to like the result for sure, the smell alone was enough to make him gag, but he wasn't sure how he was going to explain that to the ghouls,
" well whatcha waiting for ? give it a drink " winnie said nudging him on the side, " let me know how good it is," she said looking more and more eager to see him drink it,
wilbie just nodded and forced a smile as he began to bring the glass closer to his face, he opened his mouth. when he was hit with the sour air from the drink that already caused his eyes and nose to burn...
wilbie then glanced back behind him, he saw the moat and then got an idea, " alright here I go,..ready to have some tasty lemonade, " he said taking few small steps back, he then saw a loose floor board and grinned slightly, he pretended to get his foot caught on it, so he could trip over and accidentally spill his drink into the moat.
how ever as he attempted too part of his baggy jeans caught onto a rickety floorboard causing him to trip and not just loose his lemonade into the moat, be he himself plunged off the porch and into the moat as well, followed by a big splash....
The others just stared in disbelief at what just happened. but they soon quickly ran over to the ledge to see if he was okay,
they saw ripples and bubbles in the water were he had landed..and in a moments he resurfaced , spitting out a mouth full of water...
" wilbie are you okay ? " phantasma asked with a giggle, the others looked a little amused by this themselves.
wilbie floated there drenched and not looking to amused, but responded, " I'm fine...very wet, but fine...
" Gee wilbs I knew you were worn of and probably hot from the race,, but did you really need to jump into the moat to cool off ? " winnie said in a teasing tone,
" Well that does look refreshing to I must admit, " Sibella chuckled..
" alright, alright, I'm getting out, " wilbe said rolling his eye and swimming towards to the ledge
winnie then let out a howl " oh it look's like mr. Toothy wants to play with you, " winnie said pointing a claw behind him,
wilbie stopped swimming for a moment looking a little confused, " Mr who ? " he said turning around to see a shark fin approaching him from the water. his eyes then widen, he'd forgotten they had a shark in the moat, and not just any shark... as the fin approached him, the beast rose it's head out of the water, both of them,...showing each row of sharp teeth the they had,
" aaaggh!!! wilbie yelled as he began swimming faster away from the two headed shark..who quickly began pursuing him,..
the ghoul girls all just watched, surprisingly not seeming to be alarmed by this...instead they seemed to think it looked like he was having fun,
" heh, who knew he had a way with animals. " Elsa commented....
wilbie then quickly swam back over to ledge and jumped out of the water faster the the speed of light and latched on to a wooden beam on the grimwood porch..dripping wet....
" well that certainly looked like you had a fun time. it's nice to see mr toothy getting along with our guests ." sibella said cooing down to the two headed shark, who just sweetly smiled at her..then shot a sinister glare at wilbie...then dove back into the water..
wilbe climbed down from the pole and turned to the others, " well I know I'm certainly not thirsty anymore.."
Later in the day the ghoul girls continued to try and find more ways to get wilbie to eat there food, most of course seemed to fail, as wilbie would either find a way to avoid having to do so.
now sibella Elsa and phantasma were in the kitchen while Tanis and winnie were haning out with wilbie in another room,
they were going over on what to try Next,
" well nothing seems to be working, everything we offered has only resulted in him seeminlgy coming up with a way to avert it, " sibella said,
" Maybe we should try something sweet, after all Ii hear he likes to eat junk food, " phantasma suggested.
suddenly something went off in sibella's head, she remembered something tanis said yesterday, about him being a picky eater.
" that could be it, maybe she was right, he won't eat our food, because it's not sweet ! " she said to the others. Elsa and phantasma just looked at one another.
" Think about it, his mother did say he was picky, and winnie said his mother did make the all sort's of strange treats consisting mostly of sweets when she went to visit him that night,....wilbie's just a picky eater I believe, "
" you really think so, it would make sense I suppose. but how do you explain my he didn't want to try, ? " Elsa said rubbing her head,
" maybe he really did fill up on junk before the picnic..maybe he only eats what he likes to pack, and just doesn't want to admit it, "
" well, what do you suppose we should do about it ? " Phantasma asked,
sibella thought for a moment, this was just another theory, but it seemed not to hard to believe , sense he once mentioned about how he loved to eat sweets like chocolate and candy, after all he had to be filling up on something,
maybe one more test to see if that was true.....
" well...then let's see if he'll eat something sweet from us. let's give him some dessert " sibella said...
she then made her way over to the fridge, opened it an began to look and rummage around until she pulled something out, it was a tin tray covered in plastic wrap,..
" maybe he'll love to try some dark chocolate stink Bugs..."
" oooh good idea, those are defiantly a specialty from miss grimwood, " Phantasma said with her signature giggle.
" maybe he also love some fungus fudge brownies as well, " Elsa said rubbing her hands together
with that the three of them made there way into the main lunge were wilbie and the others were,
" hey guys, it's been a nice day, and too top it off, how about some tasty sweets, sibella said as both her and Elsa were holding the two tray's of desserts.
Wilbie looked up as he was sitting on the couch and looked a little worried, he had to admit, he had been trough days trying to ovoid eating the girls food, but today, he seemed to be putting up with that a lot more then usual. and he wasn't sure how much longer he could take it, .
" dark chocolate stink bugs and fungus fudge. a real tasty sweet treat, " she said picking up a off the tray, " they are simply to die for I tell you. " she said as she then took a crunchy bite from the bug. a strange green substance leaked from it as she did that. " Mmmm. " she closed her eyes, having appeared to heavily enjoy the bug treat.
Wilbie however watched as she chewed and swallowed the bug,..then took e a piece of fungus fudge off Elsa's tray and begin to chew on the small moral,
" chalk full of misquotes and swamp water....the best way to make them " she said savoring the taste...
" hey Let me at some of that sibella " winnie said helping herself to a couple of the brownies..the other soon joined in eating some.
wilbie quickly had to think of something again. he was not going to try those bugs or brownies. just the thought of t made him feel a little queasy...he then had an idea..
" I uh, think I here nature calling ! " he said quickly. " be right back ! " he said as tried to back casually out of the room. once he reached the door to the hall he immediately dashed down it,....
The others though, had stopped eating and gave rather. serous look at one another....
