" Hey Itt..."

" When we took him here, we didn't short circuit his brain by disconnecting it from the power source, did we?"

Such, a weird query turned Itt automatically  to his best friend, puzzled.

" Eh?"

" His gone delulu Itt..."

" Oh, come on Nick...Stop bothering him. His taken a break from much teasing, don't make his life harder, please?" Itt begged the standing man, back turned towards him as Itt squatted down, poking at the firestarter, planning to boil some water.

" His talking to trees" paused Itt's actions.// What?//

Abandoning his task, standing up gave him a further view, following Nick's eyeline, squinting a little at the rising sun but indeed, Mac was talking to himself. If only Itt was near enough to hear the conversation...

" I need to talk to you." Mac demanded, standing in, ankle deep near the waterline.

A skittering squirrel paused mid run to look at him from a branch. // Me?//

" No, not you" dismissed the inquisitive furry one, going about its way, looking for breakfast.

" YOU. We need to talk about your guidance or the lack of it!" staring at the shaded sky.

The universe looked down from above mysteriously at the annoyed human, agreeing with Nick. They might have 'damaged' Mac in some way during transport.

" As a guardian angel, you're an absolute failure. Like hello? Aren't you supposed to make my life easier,  smoothen my path, guide me to happiness?" Mac ranted his infuriation at the branches hovering high above his head, its shade insufficient to cool his heated gut.

Oh.

The universe adjusted her posture for this one.

She couldn't go out and say he didn't have a guardian angel due to a temporary glitch in their divine system when he was born , now could she? No, absolutely not!

" Everything since the time Nan and me found each other, has been a terrible mess. Only now have I found some love and peace with him, why do you cast doubt upon me? You make me question this union so much until I...I had to fucking runaway to this 'No Network' forest!" Mac stomped the water in frustration!

//Oi, how is it my fault if you let your thoughts wander, allowing the devil's whispers to seep in?// the universe argued, voiceless.

But then again, if she didn't take care of this soul and ended up losing him to the Devil, she would have to answer the powers above and that fear alone was enough to float her nearer to Mac, to hear his troubles.  She had been watching all this while but didn't mind the reruns in Mac's own words.

" It's been 48 hours. Nan's not here, we have one tent, there's tons of mosquitoes, the food has garlic and the toilet has no toilet paper!!!"

Well, the rant seemed pretty harmless, if you ignored the two 'Save the trees and ' Go Green' signages put up by the Forest Department.

// Mate, we invisible or something?// one signboard asked the other.

" All I ask is to bring Nan here... please..." Mac pleaded,  wanting to go home. He hadn't thought it over thoroughly when Itt suggested this getaway, too focused in questioning his ' Mr Right', that he hadn't thought about the ' What if's'.

What if Nan was so angry, he rather not come?

What if Nan thought Mac had made a run for it and abandoned him?
