Wei's farewell was held loud, with booze flowing freely, music blaring from the home speakers Ai and Puck brought out, catered food spread out on a long picnic table. From old spectators to current suppliers, many came to wish him well, some even offering him a job if this one didn't work out. Nan took no offence, proud his man had grown on a lot of people. The celebrated man clicked glasses, smiled for the camera and sang the most atrocious karaoke ever, Mac cringing in his seat.
A pull and he fell off the sofa arm to sturdy laps, arms circling his waist protectively.
" tsk!" and a disapproving stare never deterred Nan, kissing that sweaty neck, settling back onto the sofa comfortably with a cool brew of his own.
" Are you okay?" Mac asked, adjusting himself to sit sideways, feet dangling off the sofa arm.
" Why wouldn't I be? My own boy is the boss of a garage, of course I'm happy!", Nan charms as usual, taking another swing of his beer. Mac heard, but also watched, saddened by the turn of events.
Wei had been his first friend, even before Nan. He hadn't cuddled Mac, but rather treated him like another man in this house, Frog's initial attitude unfriendly. He'd miss the food definitely, his favorite sweet sour pork, the man perfecting the dish since he discovered Mac liked it very much.
" I'll miss him" Mac admitted, leaning into Nan's chest, seeking comfort, not feeling the same joy everyone seemed to have.
" Me too, baby" was the only confession Nan could afford from his heart, words failing him as he delivered a kiss to his beloved's hair, gathering strength from the hold he had on him.
---
" P'Wei, Hia Day is here" Ai shouted through the quiet house the very next morning, picking up those suitcases lined up under the staircase already.
" Guess that's me...".
Showered and shaved, Wei looked pretty decent with that new haircut of his. More dashing Mac claimed, flinching at the pinch to his jean clad ass.
Patting shoulders and shaking everyone's hands once outside, Wei paused when it came to Nan and Mac, the smaller man stepping forward.
" Come for holidays, please?...or I'll starve " Mac literally begged, missing his chef and his creations already.
" Hahaha!!!"
Those who knew the truth, agreed. //Phi Nan's cooking was terrible.//
Wei knew he was going to miss this kid, gathered Mac into a hug for the very first time, hiking and twirling him a little, just to make everyone relax a bit, laughter making the house alive again.
" That's enough. Drop the puppy..." Nan snickered , allowing the interaction while lightly pulling Mac's shirt.
The last was Nan and his height reminded Wei of a man so different, yet so similar, eyes glassy for a second.
" I'll see you around Hia..." voice choking with emotion, Wei expected some silly jokes or harmless teasing his way, the full body hug throwing him off guard. Hia didn't say anything but his grip was firm and comforting, like a brother would, holding on a little longer than necessary, passing on his strength and blessings for a new beginning.
So when Wei drove away, everyone stood around and watched, even after the car took the bend, disappearing from their sight. Saddened, the boys shuffled around aimlessly. What do they do now, that their Phi has left?
" Back to work you rats...shoo!" Nan chased his Nong's, everyone scampering like lost sheep.
Their great wall was gone and now left with the mighty emperor, they looked to Mac for protection, who didn't even know he was their savior.
