I awoke shortly before 7 o'clock in the morning and quietly left the bed, careful not to disturb Jermaine sleep. It was a strenuous week for him, as his basketball team, the Jaguars, lost a tightly contested game against the Knicks.

Despite the outcome, the Jaguars have performed admirably throughout the season, and Jermaine, being the humble man that he is, simply remarked, "you win some, you lose some." A after two weeks away, he arrived back last night. I carefully made my way to the bathroom, trying not to make too much noise so as not to disturb Jermaine's much-needed rest.

Today marks my 20-week scan, during which the gender of our baby will be revealed. I am filled with a mixture of excitement and nervousness, as my last scan took place at 15 weeks. Since then, my stomach has noticeably expanded and now resembles the size of a small watermelon.

As I stood in the bathroom, looking at my reflection in the mirror, I couldn't help but feel a sense of overwhelming joy and anticipation. The thought of finding out whether we were having a boy or a girl filled me with excitement. I had always imagined what it would be like to have a mini Jermaine running around the house, playing basketball just like his father. Or maybe a little girl, with big brown eyes and a smile that could light up the room.

As I stood in the bathroom, I contemplated whether to take a bath or a shower before starting my day ahead. I opted for the shower, letting the warm water cascade over me. The steam filled the bathroom, enveloping me in a sense of tranquility. I closed my eyes for a moment, allowing the water to soothe my body.

After my shower, I dried off and headed back into the bedroom towards the walk-in closet. While I searched for something to wear, I heard Jermaine phone alarm go off in the distance, signaling that it was time to start his day as well. I picked out a comfortable outfit that accentuated my growing belly and slipped it on before heading back to the bedroom.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," I greeted him with a smile.

He stretched and yawned, his eyes focusing on me. "Good morning, beautiful," he grinned widely, his dimples making an appearance. "We still got a couple hours before the appointment, why are you up so early?" He asked, reaching out for me to join him back in bed.

"I wanted to make sure I had enough time to get ready, prepare breakfast and relax before the scan," I explained as I climbed back into bed beside him.

"Relax, I'll go make breakfast," he said, placing a gentle kiss on my forehead.

"You had a busy week, if anyone should be relaxing, it should be you," I protested, playfully straddling his lap as he sat up in bed.

He ran his hands through my hair affectionately, "I can't let my pregnant wife do all the work while I sit back and relax. Plus, making breakfast is the least I can do after being away so much for games and practices."

"I appreciate your consideration. Our little jelly bean missed you. Kicking nonstop while you've been away," I mentioned.

Jermaine smiled, pressing a gentle kiss to my belly, "Dada home now."

At that moment, I find myself getting emotional, feeling overwhelmed with love. "I'm sorry I'm crying," I sobbed, "I'm just grateful to have you back home. I missed you so much," I managed to say in between tears.

He wiped away my tears, his eyes filled with love and warmth. As we held each other in that moment, I felt a sense of security and contentment wash over me. Jermaine's presence was like a reassuring anchor, grounding me in the midst of all the uncertainties and joys of pregnancy.

Arriving at the clinic for the scan, Jermaine held my hand as we sat in the waiting room

Arriving at the clinic for the scan, Jermaine held my hand as we sat in the waiting room. The anticipation was palpable, my heart racing with excitement and nerves. When our names were called, we followed the nurse to the examination room, where the ultrasound machine awaited. I laid back on the bed, my stomach exposed as doctor prepared the equipment.

She glanced at Jermaine and asked light-heartedly, "Nervous?"

Jermaine chuckled, "A little bit. Is it that obvious?" He jested.

"Believe it or not, the father's are usually more nervous than the mothers during these scans," she replied, smiling warmly.

"Oh fascinating," I giggled.

She smiled reassuringly before beginning the scan. As the image of our baby appeared on the screen, our hearts melted. The doctor pointed out different features - tiny fingers, little toes, and a strong heartbeat.

"The baby is healthy and strong ," she informed us, "And would you like to know the gender?"

We glanced at each other, both nodding eagerly. The doctor moved the wand around my belly. She was having trouble determining the gender as our little one was being quite mischievous, thumb in their mouth, legs tightly crossed. It was astonishing how even at this early stage, our baby already had a personality of their own.

Just as the doctor was about to suggest that we come back in a week or two when the baby will be in a better position to reveal the gender, our little one decided to kick and stretch, revealing the news.

"It's a boy," the doctor announced.

Jermaine reaction was priceless, his eyes widened in surprise and joy. "A boy?" He repeated, almost in disbelief. "Wow! The lord heard my prayer," he exclaimed. He then quickly gathered himself. "I mean, of course, I would've been happy either way."

The doctor and I both burst into laughter. Then tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at the image of our little boy on the screen. It was surreal to see him moving around, already with a personality shining through.

As we drove home, Jermaine couldn't stop talking about all the things he wanted to do to prepare for our son's arrival. He talked about painting the nursery, picking out baby furniture, and even choosing a name for our little one. It was heartwarming to see how overjoyed he was.

The next few days, Jermaine got to work in the nursery, setting up the crib and decorating the walls with sports-themed decals. He didn't want me to lay a finger to do anything, I sit back and watched him with warmth and love, knowing that he was going to be an amazing dad.
