He strode across the cement floor to shake my hand. I smiled broadly at him and he returned by flashing that amazing smile.

"I have read your credentials," He said nodding his head " A PHD by your age is almost unheard of. Might I ask why?"

"Why what?" I asked

"Why waste the prime of your life in a class room?" He half laughed

"Is my prime over yet?" I asked laughing

"No, I just, " he cleared his throat and looked me over.

I glanced around the room. Under the microscope of his scrutinizing eyes. He sighed and cleared his throat again. My eyes snapped back to his. He smiled

"Well when did you go to college?" He asked folding his hands.

"Would've been at 16," I answered, counting back the years "I got my masters at 19, Im 24 now. I just received my PHD."

"And what were they in?" he asked nodding his head

"Various types of engineering. A minor in astrophysics. Another minor in nuclear energy." I said.

He nodded his head again looking at his feet. I looked down at my resume that Ms. Potts had handed back to me. I handed it to him.

"If you wanna look at it," I said as he took it "there it is."

"Thanks, but I know enough about you," He shrugged and walked over to his rounded desk that was really just a round island in the middle of the large garage like workplace. He had amazing cars lined up along one wall on the other side of a raised slab of pavement that followed through to a tunnel and up through it. In the corner was a curved wall with metal suits all along the sides.

"There's something you don't have on here," He stated looking up at me blankly

I glanced around the room looking for the answer

"Sorry?" I asked

"Your business experience," He added looking up at me. He tapped the folder with my resume in it "Its not in here."

"Business experience?" I scrunched up my face asking him for the answer.

"You ran the Scagilla crime family," he tapped the folder with his knuckle again "Correct me if I'm wrong but your father died and you took on the responsibility of running the crime syndicate on the east coast. How many states did it cover? Chicago, I know about, but how many more? Your reported revenue would have to come from more than one state."

"I..." I hesitated. How could he know that. Running that family the way I did is what got me approved to be what I am now. The supposedly "blessed" being status that burdened me everyday for the rest of my long unhappy life.

I had run the Scagilla crime family when I had turned 18. My father had died and everyone turned to me to lead. The only one he had bothered to train and let into his confidence. I had done it for 5 years. I didnt have a year of college under my belt. That was made up, but that part was true. What was I supposed to say here? Surely not the truth.

"Alright," I nodded my head "Rather than ask how you know that, I suppose I could just answer."

"I suppose," said Stark nodding his head and waving his hand for me to continue

"The whole east coast was ours," I stated  "It wasnt until Guiletta, took over that it went under. Profits were highest when I was in control."

"You know I used to do business with your father?" He smiled "Funny guy."
