Chapter 26- Take my hand, Take my whole life too

"Kissing a fool" is to the side for you to listen to. Farewell. 

"You're free to go Ms. Scagilla,"  Fury said, standing across from me behind his desk. "You have fulfilled your end of the bargain."

I nodded and smiled slightly. Looking up at him through my eye lashes. 

"So, if you dont mind me asking, whats you plan now?" He asked sitting down in the chair and motioning for me to take a seat. 

I sat down in the chair and looked down at my hands thinking. I had thought about it, but it had all been hypothetical.

"Im not sure," I replied

He nodded his head and played with my file of his desk. Looking through the pages and nodding his head. 

"Well, in that case, I'd like to offer you a position here at S.H.I.E.L.D"  He stated 

I looked up at him, my brows furrowed. I had expected something like this. I still didnt know what I was going to do now. 

"Thank you," I nodded "I'll keep it in consideration. I just have think for a little while. When would you like an answer?"

"You can take as long as you like." He smiled kindly at me. It looked strange on his face "There will always be a spot open for you here."

I nodded and thanked him again, getting up and leaving the room. I hadnt really planned out what I would do if things went right. Commence my life again. After all these months of this kind of living. I'm not sure I could live like a normal person again. I didnt know where I would live. What my job would be. I would need time to digest this. Though the old me at times like this would have just jumped at an option. I wasnt sure what I could do now.

I was walking down the hall way when I stumbled upon the cafeteria again. Stopping and looking over, pondering if I should get something to eat, Max caught my eye and waved me over. She was sitting at a table with Jacqueline, Nicole, Steve, And Loki. I walked in and sat down next to Max, she smiled broadly at me. 

"Soooo," She patted my arm "Are you going to Stark's celebration ball tonight?"

"The what?" I asked

"Every time we accomplish something big he feels the need to make a big deal out of it and throw an entire party for it." 

"Oh," I nodded, examining the table 

"So are you going?" She asked again

"Of course shes going!" I heard Tony's voice boom.

I looked up humbly and his smile broadened. He walked over with a tray full of junk food in his hand. He pulled up a chair and sat directly next to me. I scooted over toward Max. She seemed to take notice and frowned slightly. 

"I forgot to tell you about the ball, but see you've been sleeping other wise I would have told you earlier. Um... You need to go shopping for your stuff you guys." He pointed around at us all. 

He took out his wallet and passed some cash out to each of us. He smiled around at us and halted on me. His smile dropped. I had pushed the money back toward him.

"What?" He asked cleaning his teeth "Just take it."

"Nah its fine. I dont need to go to the ball." I shrugged

"Are you kidding me right now!?" He cried, slapping my injured shoulder playfully. My breath caught in my chest at the pain. They had healed pretty fast surprisingly. I was happy about that. Though they would scar. I could only hope that they would go away. A stake through one and a bullet through the other.
