You sprinted back. You knew you shouldn't have left. You ran back to see the firemen try and get the fire under control, extinguishing every flame they could.

The ambulances were busy strapping in patients from the lower floors of the apartment that jumped out. You noticed that all of the black SUVs were gone, including the men.

Soon, police cars rushed to the scene.

The whole situation was a blurry mess, and as if time itself skipped, you were sat down in a police station, being interrogated. You sobbed uncontrollably the whole time, and one of the cops went out to make you hot chocolate.

The sympathetic investigator in front of you looked down at his notepad and then sighed. "Miss, I know this is a lot, but... There are no dead people." He then muttered under his breath, "...yet."

You looked up from your hands that were filled with tears, "W-What?" You asked, your voice hoarse and rough from crying so much. The investigator nodded, "Yes, the only people with heavy injuries are stable in the hospital right now. The only irreplaceable damage that's been done was to the building. It burnt down to its base." He said, opening his notebook to a different page, looking at pictures taken by the crime scene technicians.

"T-Then, what about-" you got cut off by another sob, remembering that Star was still in there, "A-Asterios? I-Is he safe?" You asked. You were so worried for him, you think the stress will cause you to lose your mind.

"Well..." The investigator hesitated to tell you what he knew. You were a young child going through puberty, and he didn't want you to bear this information as guilt.

"We believe he's run off with his mother, because we can't track down their phones or get in contact in any other way. Do you perhaps know what the men in the black SUVs wanted?" The investigator desperately tried to change the subject, seeing your eyes get wide and teary again.

The cop, holding piping hot chocolate in her hand walked in with a glum look. She hated when children had to be interrogated. She placed the cup in front of you and carefully pat your head.

You didn't care that the officer was fully armed with two guns at her side. You opened your arms and hugged her chest plate, sobbing into her armor, hoping it would take Star back. The cop pat your head and picked you up, letting you hug her until the end of the world for all she cared.

"No... No! S-Star is out there, s-somewhere! H-He must be s-so scared, he's in danger! You have to find him! You have to, please!" You sobbed into the officers shoulder, who exchanged a knowing look with the investigator.

After another hour of crying, you passed out on the officers shoulder, who didn't dare to move or pry your tight embrace off of her body. Your parents were now in the police station, and your mother rushed in with so much worry, the look could kill an army.

"My baby... My baby!" She mumbled, and once she saw her child safe and sound, she ran towards you. The officer lent the woman her child back, and your body instantly latched onto your mother, desperate for any kind of warmth.

Your dad, who had Tom running after him came in, equally as worried. Tom was crying out of fear of losing his big sister. "Is she okay?!" He asked, coming over to his wife to give his daughter a kiss on the forehead.

The officer leaned against the table that still had your untouched hot chocolate on it. It was one of the saddest drinks she's ever seen. "Well, physically, she's unharmed, but... She's been crying for the whole four hours we've taken her here. Her best friend was in there... I'm really sorry." She said, carefully and quietly.

'Once Cindy finds out about all of this...' your father thought, knowing she will not take another fire incident well. 'But my daughter is more important now.' he reminded himself, petting your back gently, rubbing it in circles.
