Achilles admired your laugh after you finished your joke. He couldn't help but replicate your joyous smile, but on a much smaller scale. The kettle clicked, signifying the water was boiled. As you turned around to pour the water into a new pink cup, Asterisos wondered how the future with you in the company would look like.
When would you find out he wasn't Achilles? Would you remember him, would you cry or would you be angry?
He didn't know, and he couldn't know beforehand. For now, he's just going to have to build a relationship with you.
You put the cup down in front of your boss, "Right, I wanted to have some lunch. Should I make something?" You asked, putting your hand below your chin, thinking.
"We still have those cupcakes that you brought... But that wouldn't do for a nutritionally balanced lunch. We can order something, if you'd like."
You thought a bit more, furrowing your eyebrows, "Nah, I'll make us some Caesar salad. I'll make us some chicken bites, too..." You started mumbling to yourself, subconsciously opening cabinets to find ingredients.
Asterios, still cuddled by the soft blanket was watching the television, entertained like a small child.
...Sometimes, he doesn't know whether he's Asterios or Achilles.
He can't tell the line between being who you knew as a child, and who he is now, the owner of a massively succesfull company.
After a short hassle of fighting the bubbling oil on the stove, you happily presented your boss with two decorated plates. You placed a plate along with a fork next to him, and sat down.
"Oh, I didn't know you'd make it so fast. I apologize, should I have helped? I lost track of time..." He didn't want to admit that he was very intrigued by the murder mystery playing on the television. You shook your head as you put more shredded parmesan into your salad.
"No, it's okay. I enjoy cooking and baking." You said as you took a big bite of your salad.
You were famished.
Asterios clicked another button on his mask, and now, only his right cheek and eye were covered. You could see most of his face now. He leaned back with his plate in hand, carefully and diligently eating the delicacy you made.
"Oh, right." Achilles said out of nowhere, putting down his plate and grabbing his phone. After a few buttons, your phone beeped.
Confused, you gulped down your chicken and opened your phone.
200 pounds were deposited into your account. The note said; "Both the cupcakes and the salad are of utmost delicacy. Here is the bonus I talked about."
You snapped your head towards your boss, who was chuckling softly. "Sir, I told you I was okay with cooking for free..."
"And I told I was not okay with it. That is my personal bank account, so if it helps, you're not taking anything from the company." You jaw dropped.
Does this man have so much money to burn that he's willing to pay you a hundred pounds just for snacks he could buy for so much cheaper?
Yes.
_______
Listening to the rain outside, you hummed a melody, scheduling a meeting between the manager of the safety department and your boss.
...You genuinely didn't understand what was so wrong with an office job. You have everything done in a few hours, and after work, you can just waltz into your own private theatre and watch movies until you drop dead.
