"Wait- What?" Your words hitched in your throat, mind going hazy from the gibberish Achilles said. 'Buying furniture? Is he crazy?'
"What's wrong? This office should be made to your liking, as my personal assistant." Achilles said calmly. Your breath hitched in your throat, "But- I already have everything I need to work, right? Why do I need things that'd make me comfortable?"
"Because you're working directly with me, and I don't want someone with such a rank to feel unwanted here. Please, follow me. We can go shop whatever furniture you'd like. Take it as a bonus, if it makes you feel better." Achilles raised an eyebrow and started walking towards the elevators, and you quickly followed suit.
Before you could speak, Achilles beat you to it, "Feel free to leave your things here. All we need is my black card and your taste in decor. This floor will be locked, of course." You nodded and left with nothing but your phone and wallet.
"Thank you, I wanted to ask about that... Wait, did you say your black card? You're going to pay for my stuff yourself?! No, sir, I can't allow this. I assure you, everything is fine just the way that it is, I don't need anything else!" You waved your arms around before stepping onto the elevator, and Achilles' head tilted to the side as he was about to press the buttons.
"I don't understand, Miss. Your comfort will result in better performance and our relationship, and I would like to be on good terms with the person that assists with my work. I'd say it's the minimum to strengthen our bond." You hesitated but walked into the elevator with him. "We could simply get coffee, not buy furniture. It's crazy expensive, sir, I really don't think this is necessary.Asterios knew that you'd be stubborn and humble, but now he knew you wouldn't budge without a push.
Achilles sighed, "Then we can get lunch after shopping, too, if that's what you'd like." Your head snapped towards him, and you noticed that the mesh openings for his eyes were looking at you as well. "Sir, I assure you-"
"No, that's an order. Miss, believe it or not, money is nowhere near the issue. I could buy the companies that sell the furniture, if it makes you feel better." Achilles cut you off as the elevator descended. Your shoulders relaxed and you sighed, "Okay, I give up... But what can I do to make it up to you? I'd feel terrible to have my ideal office and then disappoint you along the way." You said, offering your boss a small smile.
Asterios' heart twitched in anticipation, just happy that you let him spoil you for the first time. "Well, your cookies looked delightful, so if you could bake or cook, that'd be great. I usually forget to make myself lunch or eat whatsoever, because I get too engrossed in work."
Your hand covered your mouth in disbelief, but then it dropped with a big smile, "That's why you have me, sir! I'll make sure to make you lots of food, and bake treats for after work. You can count on me with cooking, it's like my most frequented hobby."
A small chuckle left Achilles, "I am happy to believe you, and I can't wait to see what you come up with. We can go to the store to stock up on our kitchen, if you'd like. That way, you can cook at work and not bother after you get home."
"Of course, sir. That'd be delightful, but only if it's okay with you." The elevator doors chimed open, and you realized you weren't in the lobby. Rather, you were in the parking lot that was under the building.
Achilles stepped out, and you walked next to him, "Oh, and just to let you know, your cooking will be paid as well. I don't want you to think that you will have an 8 hour shift along with cooking. Cooking is a part of your job, but you don't have to do it if you don't feel like it. We can always visit the cafeteria or a restaurant, if that's what you'd like."
