After walking for a while, we arrived at the orphanage where children were playing in the front yard. The sounds of their gleeful screams made my heart swell.
They reminded me of my childhood days and my parents which made me lift the corners of my lips unconsciously.
None of them had noticed us as we stopped at the fence.
I could watch them play all day long, laughing and screaming in pure joy. I hoped they never had to worry about anything in their lives and could live peacefully like this.
"Hello, how may I help you?" A middle-aged woman with brown hair and a warm smile approached us, disturbing my line of thought. I attempted a smile at her.
"Mrs. Wilson, long time no see! You look lively today as well," Drake said before I could say anything and the lady rolled her eyes.
"I'm not going to give it to you even if you butter me up like that for years, young man, so I suggest that you don't waste any more of your time," Mrs. Wilson said with a playful smile and Drake pouted.
"A-Anyway, we j-just c-came by t-to give th-this food t-to the ch-children. P-Please accept i-it as a-a gift f-from your n-new Luna," I said with a well-practiced smile.
"Thank you, Luna. The children will truly be really happy," She said as I handed her the basket and as we were about to leave, she stopped us.
"Would you like to stay and meet the children? I'm sure they'll be delighted to know that the Luna came over," She said and I melted at her words.
But, would they really be happy to see me?
Trying not to think about it too much, I nodded and let her escort us into the well-maintained and cozy looking building.
As we entered, the aroma of bread and the sound of crackling wood in the room nextdoor hit us.
"It's cozy, isn't it?" Drake said as we walked into the living room and I smiled as the answer.
I looked around and it was much simpler than the pack house, but was messier. There were toys at every corner of the room and the toy's box was empty.
Two little boys entered the room once we were seated and froze in their tracks once they saw me.
"H-Hello," I said and waved with a warm smile.
"Jay, Andy, say, 'Hello' to our guests," Mrs. Wilson said with a motherly tone and they both nodded before coming towards me and Drake.
"Hi! My name is Jay and this is Andy!" Jay said with the cutest smile I had ever seen and I instantly fell in love with the cutie.
"H-Hello," Andy said in the smallest of voices as he clutched Jay's hand tightly and fiddled with his clothes. His small little fingers pushed back the hair from his eyes and I almost had a heart attack.
'Ack! Liz, do something! I don't think I can handle the cutness,' I said to Liz who just rolled her eyes before sitting down and staring at the children.
"N-Nice to meet y-you both. I-I am Isabelle b-but you can c-call me Izzy," I said with a toothy grin which Jay returned and Andy just nodded. So adorable!

The time passed by in a blur and soon enough, we were back at the pack house where Ethan was standing at the door with a worried expression.
My heart fluttered and I almost ran to him, but didn't and pretended that I didn't see him. His expression became icy when he saw us both but I didn't let it scare me.
"Where were you two?" His voice was cold which sent shivers down my spine and triggered some past memories, but I was getting better at containing them.
"Alpha, we just went to the orphanage," Drake said as he glanced my way but I kept staring at the floor.
"Leave us," after a long while staring at me, Ethan said, his eyes burning holes through my head.
Drake nodded before glancing at me again, and leaving.
"Where were you both?" He asked again but I didn't budge as a pout formed on my lips. After ignoring me and treating me coldly, he didn't have the right to be mad at me for going somewhere without telling him.
"It's none of your business," I said with a huff and folded my arms.
I didn't want him to suffer as much as I did, but I wanted an explanation before I told him anything.
"So that's how it is," he said under his breath and everything stopped at that very second. I broke out into a cold sweat as my head started to spin, his words playing on repeat.
My eyes snapped up to his face to see his eyes narrowed and lips downturned. He took a hold of my wrist and dragged me inside.
My eyes filled with tears but I didn't let them spill as I waved at the people we passed by.
Right then, my eyes met Caroline's, who was glaring daggers at me which confirmed the fact that no one knew what was happening.
I just hoped that he won't beat me. I couldn't take that. It would make my heart shatter into such tiny pieces that it won't be able to mend itself again.
He took me to our room and threw me onto the bed, my heart beating a mile a minute.
"I'm asking you one last time, where were you two?" He said, looking like Alpha Pedro and I shrunk in on myself.
"W-We w-went t-to the o-orphanage to g-give the children s-some f-food," I said as fast as I could but he didn't seem to back down at all.
"Liar," he said before bringing his hand back into a familiar position and I instinctively covered myself, waiting for impact.
After a few moments, I felt the comforting tingles on my arms as Ethan removed them from my face gently. I didn't let my guard down as I stared at him to which he smiled his charming smile, but something was different.
"Mate," his voice was deeper than usual and his eyes were hazel now. I immediately recognised it as his wolf and I could tell that my face beamed.
He chuckled and I had to stop myself from jumping on him and sqeezing the daylights out of him.
"Marc," I said in a hushed whisper, as if he would disappear at the sudden sound.
"Mate, me can't stay too long. Me wants mate to leave. Fastest," he said and I felt my heart sink.
"W-Why? What's w-wrong?" I asked in a hurry as I saw him desperately fighting to keep control.
"Ethan got spelled. Mate need to leave, fastest," he said and I understood. Ethan was under a spell, that was why he was acting the way he was. His behaviour made sense now.
I had bittersweet feelings about it. If he was put under a spell, that would mean there was a traitor, but I could save him now. Bring my Ethan back.
I nodded at Marc and a relieved smile took over his face before he relaxed. Ethan came out, stumbling over his feet which meant that Marc hadn't let Ethan eavesdrop in on our conversation.
He was smart. No wonder he was an Alpha.
"You," Ethan got more stable and pointed to me before sighing.
"What did that useless wolf tell you?" He asked and I flinched.
'What do I tell him? Hurry and come up with something,'
"That I should just tell you the truth," I said and pretended that I was super scared. He didn't seem to believe me but let it go for now.
"We will talk again tomorrow. Don't you dare leave this room, understood?" He said just like someone from my past and I nodded like a good girl to which he sighed and left.
I needed to escape this place without letting anyone know. People here were loyal to their Alpha and couldn't hide any sort of information if he used his Alpha tone.
I could silence them with my Luna tone and aura, but there was little reliability that it would hold out. I had no choice but to keep quiet.
